I blame the education system and cultural influences and parenting for this contamination of Urdu by English words. You don't see other languages mixing so many English words into their discourse.

I dont see it as a contamination of Urdu, rather progress made in Urdu. If Urdu wants to grow n prosper it would have to embrace words from all international languages. How did English become international? Because u can find even arabic words in the oxford dictionary.

If you really wanna purify urdu from other languages, then please help me translate some common scientific words like cell phone, engine, motor cycle ...etc.

To speak proper lakhnavi urdu:
1. Dye your beard(not black, but sort of orangy-redish colour)
2. Chew a pan, let the red juice drip from corner of your mouth
3. And repeat with me this sentence(ignore the sprinkle of red juice on the face of guy sitting opposite to you).
La hole billa kuwait( translate: There is a hole in kuwait)

Sir,

I'll add:

4. Prefix every second sentence with "Amma Yaar" - a true Lacknavi hallmark.

Sometimes Urdu words have hilarious interpretations, for instance :

Jab paani maangaa to pesh-aab kar diya, jab khaana maangaa to dasten paros daali.

pesh-aab can mean both urine and to offer water while dasten paros daali can mean both to serve **** and to serve by hands.

My favourite urdu anectode : Once Mirza Ghalib the greatest Urdu poet ever ( yes only in pakistan they may rate Iqbal higher than Ghalib ) is supposed to have gone to his beloved's mazaar and urinated on it.When horrified bystanders asked him why he committed this indiscretion, he replied:

Hum unke ishq mein is qadar doob gaye Ghalib
Ke aansoo nikal rahe hain ab rastaa badal badal ke.

Apologies for the toilet humour!
