There is no need to learn flowery Urdu; you can use relatively simple Urdu to express yourself as well. But one shouldn't speak "Urdu" like this:

"But mein to car mein bheta hoon, don't call me baahar yaar"

I have made a deliberate effort to eliminate all my English words from my Urdu, & have been successful in doing so, which raises some eyebrows in certain circles of people when they talk to me.

Do have go at translating the first line of this song from the film Ghulami written by Sampooran Singh Gulzar:

Zihaal-e-Miskeen maqun ba-ranjish bahaal-e-hijra bechara dil hai
Sunaayee deti hai jiski dhadkan humara dil ya tumhara dil hai

Its Persian, not Urdu.. It remind me the poem of Hazrat Ameer Khusro "Zehaal-e-Miskin Makun Taghaful"

Zihaal: Two words "Zi" and "Haal".. Zi, possessed of (used in compound) Haal, state. Here it means " the state in which the poor is"

Miskin: Poor

Makun: Don't, isn't

Ba: By or with

Ranjish: Resentment, unpleasantness

Ba-haal: Ba, with; Haal, state... State the poor is in.

Hijra (Hijer): Separation from beloved one

Bechara: Helpless, poor



In a nutshell - Miserable state of the poor is not due to the resentment of his/her lover, the state (heart in particular) is due to the separation of poor from his/her beloved one.
