A question by an Indian journalist regarding “hate speeches” by Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed was countered by Qureshi with an admonishment thinly disguised as a reproof. “Both sides agree that an environment free of negative propaganda needs to be created; when there’s mention of Hafiz Saeed, attention should also be paid to statements emanating from the other side. For example, the statement made by the Indian home secretary was uncalled for,” said Qureshi, referring to a remark by G.K. Pillai saying that the ISI was responsible for controlling and coordinating the Mumbai attacks. “Pakistan has not had – nor does it need to have – an apologetic attitude in talks with India,” asserted Qureshi.

I think an equivocal treatment of Hafz Saeed and his hate speeches with the Indian home secretary for his comments on ISI based on David Headely's inputs was damaging and the joint media briefing never had a chance again to get back on track.

its not ministers its just a single minister and that is Pakistani minister that shows his frustration, lack or curtsy and immaturity.

Our minister has not done any loose talk and not used any improper words or false made up stories.

What about Indian officials claim about Pakistan ISI behind Mumbai attacks during the time of peace process??Do you think its the right time for provocative statements like this..he can raise the issue when the talks was happening rather than commenting it infront of media at a crucial time..we both know,Indian ministers are also good at making those kind of talks just like Pakistan counterparts..

India doesnt want to talk with Pak, they are just doing propaganda that they want to have good relations with pakistan, and want stable pakistan.

I think pakistan will not wait too long for india, i think pakistan is planning some thing big(not war).

And to be fair, some of our mature Pakistani and Indian poster were pointing out (and hoping) that there would be no inflammatory statements from either side going into this process.

So much of the Indo-Pakistan relationship is about 'optics' and 'playing to the public', and is so easily derailed by how those 'optics' are perceived, that our most meaningful progress towards peace has occurred completely away from the limelight, with 'back-channel negotiations', with the public finding out after the fact that there was almost a road-map towards resolving the Kashmir dispute.

I am not sure if that reflects poorly on the public engagement skills of our politicians and diplomats (when it comes to India-Pakistan relations), or on the mentality of the public on both sides, that cannot allow compromise by the respective governments.

Im sure both the people of Pakistan and India want peace, security, jobs, education for their children like any other decent human being. Lets not forgot India and Pakistan already undertook composite dialogue b4 26/11 occured. The terrorist act that happened in Mumbai was to derail the peace process and it worked! but the losers will be the common man.

For me its the vote bank politics Agno..politicians wanted the people to know that they dont compromise on the national interest to gain votes..unfortunately it is affecting the peace process in a BIG way..But they dont understand is public mood can be changed..people are ready to give peace a chance..good example is peace existed between our countries prior to Mumbai attack.the trade was good ,people to people relation was good and most important thing ,Not a single bullet was fired across our borders for one year is nothing short of a miracle considering the previous records ..

Yes 26.11 was a tragedy, but for how long will the indian gov hold on to it. IF this attitude has to persist then they should just tell us we dont want to talk about any thing, we just want the bombay perpetrators put to task even though the proof is not sufficient. But just go by our words, tell your judiciary to shut up and listen to us, no need for sufficient proof. And then once our task is achieved our grievances are curbed we might pay some head to your complains if you act like our colony.

And I think it is even now the case, on people to people contact we are still good. But it is the media that spares no effort in derailing the peace process for the sake of their benefit and the gov follows suit. And God knows what other elements are involved.

If you have watched that live press conference your all the misconstruction will have gone.

The home secretary was right in his statement and its supported by the David Coleman Headley's interrogation.

And he have stated that in response to a question.

As Pakistan says India's hand in Baluchistan we have the same right if we think that ISI was behind 26/11.

But should not the culprits be bought to justice? wont this show the Indian people that Pakistan is a responsible democracy that has acted in preventing its soil be used against any other nation.

Media is known for sensationalizing every single news to earn profit..in the end it is also a business entiity..to be frank there are some section in the society on the either side of the border who dont want this peace to be happen..Peace between our countries will affect their political and business interest a lot..
