Parallel development?

Parallel development of two fighter aircraft, one flew first in 1995 and one in 2009?

Someone please call Oxford press to change the meaning of the term parallel development with 'time frame deviating by about one and a half decade.'
If you are 15 years younger than your older brother, that must mean you're his copy right? I assume that's how logic works in India. Maybe that's why you still haven't gotten that mini-Mirage 2000 copy you call LCA right yet.

China purchased a TK-10-3 prototype from Ukraine, which was what Su-33 was developed from. They share the same lineage, but they were sepearate developments.

A warning be civil and stick to the topic I have cleaned the thread and given infractions next step is a ban.

i don't understand why do people care if Chinese Copy the Russian Jet or what.
In War, you don't get to win by being Moral. Or stick to intellectual properties right. You use whatever means to win a war.
Yes, copying is not moral, but the end of the day, they got to make their own plane and use it on the battlefield.
In the case you win, it make no different if you are using copy planes or your own development, as the loser will not say, "it's not fair, the planes is not of your design, you immoral (Name calling)" So what, you win, they lose. Not much to talk about.
YOu have to be naive to really holding a thread on Copy technology or what not. A weapon platform is a weapon platform, no point agruing their point of origin, as it does not matter, yes the Chinese are wolf tail and sneaky, but in the end of the day, they got a weapon platform that they can make whatever they want, however they want and whenever they want is the most important issue. Everything other than that should not even matter.
Exactly, I have raised this same point over and over again. Reverse engineering is an art. Its not easy to reverse engineer and produce things all by own. Even China is struggling with few of its engine programs.

US and USSR took German designs and learned from them. Incorporated them. After break up of USSR, many US companies visited Russian scientists for their research brain child. Its all about getting the best or becoming self-dependent by hook or by crook.

Everything is fair in war. If copying or reverse engineering a technology makes my country self dependent and takes away fear of sanctions from the supplier, then to hell with IP rights of other country as long as security and defence of my nation and people are concerned.

Chinese have been investing a lot in reverse engineering and adding their own inputs in these projects. What's the need of re-inventing the wheel. They just copied the basics while focused more and more crucial aspects of various projects. It not only reduce the time of development but also saved a lot of money.

Simple corporate espionage of F-35 designs helped them to raise 5th gen prototype, J-31 in few years.

We learned a late. We had USSR then Russia and France as weapon suppliers but instead of learning from them we just bought the weapons off the shelf. ToT came way later. We didn't took help of other nations in our fighter and engine development. But when we see case of Indian SSBN, Russian input helped us to get this top technology to be assimilated in faster way.

Su-33 remained as a prototype whereas Chinese regularly improved their fighter. Its not the end product. Many upgradations are to be followed. I don't know how much better one plane is than the other. I leave this on expert but again the problem is various data required for detailed comparison won't be available.

.
Back to J-15 topic, I guess Chinese know what is value engineering by now: do samething with less cost or do better with same cost and maximize the use of the capital investment: Since we're already invest a great deal of money on J-11B, tuning the design into J-15 required less investment since most tooling and fixtures for the aircraft is already been made.

I expect that China will use J-11 and J-15 as foundation to further develop other upgrade version J-yy version until next gen fighters such J-20 and J-31 take overs.

.
And the only nation bought it because of Black money deposited directly in switz Bank ,French are known for their bribes .
and Rafale proven in libya are you serious men?

huh??

becoz

1) corruption
BAE bribed the saudis to buy typhoon

2)influence

US won the singapore deal through influence

3) Financial

Switzerland bought gripen as it is cheaper even it leaks report suggest rafale the leader in it's evaluation report

What are the similarities between Mirage 2000 and LCA apart from Delta wings? I can site another dozens of fighters with Delta winged configuration.

And what is your excuse for J-11 then? :azn:

We purchased the right to manufacture Su-27SK in 1994, and the end product was J-11. What's your excuse for failing to produce a miniature Mirage 2000 copy?

J11 are those Su27 we bought directly from Russia and assembled ourselves with Russian parts and license.they are similar to the ones Russia had equiped with.
what you want to say is J11b.J11b is a update version of J11 with a large number of Chinese-made parts. They have different weapon systems and combat missions.

China’s new fighter aircraft J-15 is not a copy of the Russian Su-33 and is in fact superior to it, a state-run Chinese daily said Thursday.

On Nov 25, China’s carrier-borne J-15 fighter jet successfully underwent a series of tests on the Liaoning, China’s first aircraft carrier. People’s Daily said the J-15 is equipped with two high-power engines and a brand-new system of high lift device, takeoff and landing device and arrester hook.

Its wing can be folded up to both maintain the excellent combat capability and meet the special requirement of landing on the Liaoning. Featuring large combat radius, excellent maneuvering performance and high bombs carrying capacity, the J-15 has a fighting capability of full sea and full airspace.

The Russian media guessed that the J-15 is a copy of Russian Su-33 carrier-borne fighter jet because its appearance is similar to Su-33.

Geng Yansheng, spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense of China, was quoted as saying that many weapons have the same design principle and some command and protection methods are also similar. “Therefore, it at least is non-professional to conclude that China copied the aircraft carrier technology of other countries only by simply comparison.”

The state-run daily then cited areas in which it says the Chinese fighter is ahead of the Russian jet.

First, J-15 has an avionics more advanced than Su-33. Su-33 is equipped with old-fashioned ARINC429 discrete avionics system of one-way low-speed data bus, while J-15 adopts joint avionics system of bidirectional data bus.

TS-100, the Su-33′s fire-control computer, has a computing speed of only 170,000 times per second, while the J-15′s fire-control computer has an estimated computing speed of over several million times per second, said the media report.

The J-15 owns a much more advanced radar system than the Su-33. Due to its backward avionics system, the Su-33 can only serve as interceptors, and is incapable of air-to-ground precision strike.

The J-15 adopts improved materials and production techniques, and thus has greater strength and lighter weight.

Finally, the J-15 is powered by Taihang (WS-10) turbofan engine, which is more powerful than the Su-33′s engine.

“Overall, the J-15 is superior to the Su-33, and is comparable to world-class carrier-based aircraft such as the United States’ F-18 and France’s Rafale,” the daily concluded.

welll the chinese media is saying that J-15 is not a copy of Su33 citing reason that just similar looking doesnt mean copy assuming people would really beleive it and on top of it boasting it is superior to Su 33 & thats not all ,saying openly it is comparable to RAFALE .

i dont have words to express my feeling after reading such things just 1 word
BLAAAHH !!!!

Well, why should people be surprised? China has caught up in many areas. Sure there are still areas to be improved upon like conglomerates, companies to rival Microsoft.

Besides Russia was last relevant on the world stage on 1991.

Now the 2 Superpowers are USA and China.
Its probably going to be a bi-polar world, but the Islamic world will be prefering China over USA.

And here is the best part, China won't make the same mistakes that USA made.

George w Bush was a true classic idiot. USA will never recover from his era.

It's still flying without any crash. :D

It's all probability. You don't fly that often, it reduces your chance of crashing. If you don't have that many, that also helps the numbers. Better yet, since LCA won't see service, I suspect you won't see many crashing.

that doesn't seem to work with their GSLV rockets :D

About 50 are on order, 40 Mk 1 and 6 N-LCA, further order of 120 of MK II after FOC. And your point being?

It's still flying without any crash. :D

one reason is the pony plane flies too few```second, of course the plane is literally made by foreign countries like any other of your so-called 'indigenous' weapons````no wonder the LCA test pilot killed himself, because enough humiliation working in that joke organization with talk much people

you forget to put 'wills' before those numbers``
IA will have LCA.Mark 523/CL-BS space battleship in 2135, and I am telling you now
