Chinese daily says its jet superior to Russian fighter

The state-run daily then cited areas in which it says the Chinese fighter is ahead of the Russian jet.

First, J-15 has an avionics more advanced than Su-33. Su-33 is equipped with old-fashioned ARINC429 discrete avionics system of one-way low-speed data bus, while J-15 adopts joint avionics system of bidirectional data bus.

TS-100, the Su-33′s fire-control computer, has a computing speed of only 170,000 times per second, while the J-15′s fire-control computer has an estimated computing speed of over several million times per second, said the media report.

The J-15 owns a much more advanced radar system than the Su-33. Due to its backward avionics system, the Su-33 can only serve as interceptors, and is incapable of air-to-ground precision strike.

The J-15 adopts improved materials and production techniques, and thus has greater strength and lighter weight.

Finally, the J-15 is powered by Taihang (WS-10) turbofan engine, which is more powerful than the Su-33′s engine.

In 2010 , Su-33 was upgraded with latest avionics, more powerful (132 kN, 29,800 lbf) AL-31-F-M1 engines and a larger weapons carriage. The new production batch would include a phased-array radar, thrust-vectoring nozzles, and long-range anti-ship missiles.

I guess the china daily might have cross refereed wikipedia or might have asked Sinochallenger guy " hey sino which is better china or Russia"........... sino might have replied " LOL at Russia" ... then the daily concluded chinese was better.

So pray why are they still using inferior Russian Engines . Oh Wait let the Tears of Explanation from our Chinese Friends flow .

It's because China is still coming up to speed on engine development. But isn't j-15 using Chinese made engine?

i don't care if it is a copy .what important to us is that we have the ability of making a plane that can be used on carrier.
it is sure a copy in outline.but I'm not sure about the inner facilities. are they just low version copies or upgraded copies or different ones?so the question should be How much J-15 copy from Su-33/T-10K.is it 100% or 30% or **?it depends on our machinery industry, electronic industry, and materials science level.
so if some one want to get an answer close to the truth,he must get more knowlege of our industrial capacity .Any judgments not based on research are whimsical.Underestimating J-15 is bad for our potential enemies and overestimating it is bad for ourselvs.
This is the advice I gave you all.

So clever of you to quote an article 2 years ago. Does technology advances or go backward over the time?

Hummm....So chinese J-15 advanced in last two years and on the other hand, russian jet stayed at the same level. Nice one moron.

CHinese Daily == Communists Propaganda..

What do you expect govt mouthpiece to speak???

and on top of it boasting it is superior to Su 33 & thats not all ,saying openly it is comparable to RAFALE .
BLAAAHH !!!!

what's wrong with comparing to rafale and f-18?
s-33 already easily beat those two planes by default in terms of range, speed and payload. the only thing no one knows is radar. we do know it has very large nose, which has a lot of potential..

anyways, j-15 is su-33 clone with chinese stuff. it maybe better, but you cannot deny su-33 is the daddy..

If the updated version is that good as you described, why Russian navy choose Mig-29K INSTEAD of it?

Quite strange. China buy Russian jet engines for its military planes...

One of the reasons is economies of scale, i.e., the cost advantages that come with the fall in average cost per unit as the scale of output is increased, read russian + Indian orders for Mig29k.

rafale has larger range then su-33 , pls see wiki.:coffee:

China purchased a T-10K prototype from Ukraine, from which it developed into J-15 with its own experience manufacturing the J-11 family. Russian Su-33 is also developed from the same prototype, thus they both have the same parent. However, to say one is copy of another is simply laughable. Nobody would be stupid enough to call your younger siblings a genetic copy of you.

Furthermore, the Su-33 was developed in the late 80's to early 90's. On the other hand, J-15 was developed in the mid 2000's, taking advantage of improvement in avionics and material development since. It's not surprising that it would be superior to its older brother.

However, if this was just an Indian attempt to troll, then let them continue down their path of retardation. Maybe they'll be happier when their exploded boilers are repaired.

any proof ?

It is really hard to tell that whether J 15 is superior than SU 33 or not.
