I'm not surprised since I've seen a fair share of smear articles in my time. Anyone could cite dubious experts with "alleged" sources and even when there is zero proof they could claim that the Chinese government is hiding everything.

Also I take your lack of surprise as to why this article is in the Indian Defence section as proof that some Indians are, as a matter of fact, China obsessed?

Regarding the 2nd half of your post- its information warfare as an offensive tool used by the Chinese . so it falls under the Indian defense forums as FYI about the neighbor ( information warfare is also an integral part of a countries arsenal) . Besides, why post this in the Chinese forums to hear the very same , never one word against the political leadership in any post Chinese, comment about this?

Maybe you don't but the rest of us wonder- how come they never post one thing against the political leadership , perhaps an occasional protest about some small province law being used against a poor person unfairly- BUT Never! do we read any dissension with the ruling party heads...

Indians will dissent hard against the congress and its leadership and Pakistan will against its ruling party... but not one world but kumbaya songs for Chinese premier always?

Regarding your 1st half of the post. the problem everyone faces is the secrecy and suppression of information in china makes it hard to verify ... one who verifies gets thrown in jail there. these articles from think tanks and reputable news organizations has the assumption that they verified it to the best of the ability. Of course it does not absolve it from being mistaken.

BUT china and its propaganda doing something like this is not a far stretch. Look at what it did on SAR'S and misinformation it put forth - putting the world potentially at risk. I have no clue why China is obsessed with purity in image, to the point of falsifying even the smallest of social issues or something like even earthquake stats.

Pakistan had a devastating flood , but it did not seek to cover it up or jail the protesters. perhaps you guys can learn from your close friends?

We have plenty of large-scale demonstrations in Hong Kong, the marches against the Government-proposed "Article 23" were massive, reaching 700 thousand people out of a total population of 6 million.

In fact, just go to any Chinese-language internet forum and you will see that people are NOT shy about criticizing the government at all.

It's not like you don't have millions being allowed to die of starvation an average amount of 20 million every couple of decades that is a proud record to hold over India. it's not like skype also now being banned in china reflects a good impression of china .
