What's new

CHINA pays people up to $8,000 for information on their ‘bearded’ Muslim neighbors

I find it strange that a nation would openly do such a thing and get away with it.

Stranger still is the muted , even condescending response of posters here. People who fly off the handle whenever any ' anti Muslim' activity is reported or even perceived anywhere in S Asia respond with " nothing wrong.." type responses !

No one wants to bite the hand that feeds perhaps ? Or maybe some nations are more equal than others !

What one sees here is Thunderous silence .

I think we know the answer.

Can't afford to upset the big daddy. Imagine the responses if USA or India did this. If their present patron does it, it's halal.

Nothing wrong with reporting illegal behavior.

As for beards, it sounds strange. I would need some official source to say that beards are illegal in China.

PS. I have this image of Beijing Airport. First there's a line of immigration booths and then a line of barber booths...
Beards are not illegal. If they were, then bearded fellows would be arrested, not just spied upon by neighbours. But people getting paid to keep tabs on anybody with a beard - doesn't that sound like unfair profiling to you? If it was India that did this, would your response be the same? "Nothing wrong with reporting..."

lol....good going china.....
I wish India sickulars show some spine and do the same........

India does far, far worse than this -- with decades of police harassment of Muslim youth.

Trust me you guys do NOT want to start a comparison with India.

There are differences, for one, China is not aggressive towards Muslim COUNTRIES. China cracks down on crime hard, not just limited to Muslims, but to any and all race including Han.

Why do you think China is amongst the safest countries in the world, we are tough on crime. Sometimes this does violate some rights, but you know what we believe in the right of the majority, in the end, what will benefit the nation most will be done.

As to why India and America can't do this, well, wars against Pakistan, a Muslim nation, and drone strikes by America to go with black jails, invasions, and lest we forget, being Christian and Hindu.

So to sum up, China is Atheist, we are not a religious competitor, in fact given the right method, Muslim can spread in China. China doesn't war with Muslim countries, China doesn't do crazy things to Muslim countries.

What China does do, investments, and support, that's it. What happens in that country is their business, we have no control over it and we want no control over it. So yea, to America and India, China may seem like the threat, but consider this.

America is actively going into countries to change their government and people, India is actively conducting espionage, if reports on this forum are to be believed, at least 1971 involved meddling in internal politics.

If chinese "ambitions" are the same as those two, we be having a different conversation.

"What is new and extremely worrying [is that] the Chinese government is so bent on suppressing Uighur Islam that it thinks it's appropriate to make public these restrictions and to sketch out what behavior is considered suspect by the state," Bequelin told Al Jazeera.
And what is the Muslim Ummah doing about this? Oh nothing at all! Not even a squeak! After all, it's happening in China. Had it been in Burma or elsewhere, the sheeple would have gone berserk! Hafiz Saeed and Co would have been the first to send his army of LeT marauders to 'fight for Islam and the Muslims'.

But this is happening in China, whose 'friendship' is deeper than the oceans and stronger than steel. They dare not rattle the status quo, can they? :azn:

The reason why any other country cannot do this that after every 4 -5 years the party in power has to go back to the people seeking re election based on what it did in the last tenure. This is something the Communist Party of China does not have to worry about.

Not that I am suggesting the citizens of China do not have a voice that is heard, in democracies their voices are louder.

You are equating some unconfirmed police surveillance of potential terrorists to the wanton slaughter of hundreds, if not thousands, of civilians in Burma?

Have you lost all sense of proportion?

@Developereo

You are spied just because you have beard!!!! Isn't it clubbing all bearded men as a potential trouble maker?

If it was done by anyone other than China, the same lot of pakistanis would have gone berserk.

Please don't exaggerate! 'Slaughter of thousands of Muslims'? Where did you get that from? Or is it propaganda? Hundreds of Muslims fled their homes and were displaced. Hundreds of houses were burned. But thousands 'slaughtered'?

This was just the latest in an ongoing series of killings.
And, before you dismiss this because it's Muslims, the same thing happened to other religious and ethnic minorities in Burma.

So who's lost all sense of proportion? :azn:

Still you.
