China's meager aid to the Philippines could dent its image

Not worried at all.
Actually, China is in the mood. China raised the aid amount. Still beaten by a furniture store chain, though.

We do have a say actually, especially since your country survives in borrowed cash.
From China? That is a laugh.

So is America going to show the world how good of a samaritan they are by raising on Britain's offer?
No need. When the amount from each is above a certain threshold, there is no need to try to one-up each other. The US and Britain are old hands at this.

This affects you greatly, it is THAT obvious.

You guys often boasted how economically powerful China is, from planes, trains, and automobiles

Planes, not yet.

China don't like humanitarian aid. There's no profit in it.

Important point. Chinese seem to shower aid, only if it has material benefit for them.
Anyway, Chinese members bringing India into the thread, on assistance to Pakistan.

The Hindu : Front Page : Pakistan flood: India among top 10 aid-givers

ISLAMABAD: India's decision to increase its flood relief assistance to Pakistan from $ 5 million to $ 25 million has placed it among the top 10 countries/institutions which have loosened their purse strings the most to help Islamabad deal with the unfolding emergency.

Initially billed as “delayed and niggardly,” the Indian response now has catapulted the country to ninth position in the ‘Country-wise update of Foreign Assistance for Flood Affectees,' put out by the Economic Affairs Division of the Pakistan Government.

The last update was made on Monday afternoon — 24 hours before the announcement — and as per this list, the U. S. leads the pack with a commitment of $ 200 million, followed by the U. K., Saudi Public Relief Fund, Saudi Arabia, the European Union, Germany, Canada and the United Nations.

With the announcement, India has topped developed countries like Japan, Norway and Sweden, besides China which Pakistan has always regarded as its “all-weather friend.”

China has till date committed $ 9 million and the lukewarm response from Beijing has been questioned by the Pakistani media.

correct but for us it is middle eastern country and it is different than asian for us.

You are Western Asia, in fact Turkey was called Asia Minor in ancient times and Israel was part of Asia Major. Eastern Asia was was practically unknown to us but due to no other words when Europeans arrived in China we just expanded the word to include what is now East Asia.

In the UK Asia is the subcontinent (India, Pakistan, SL, BD), East Asia is the Orient.

We do not give a damn to what those China-haters think.
