totally agreed. its important to bring in private players to speed up the process of ship building.

does anyone know that india exports 75% of its indigenously manufactured ships. we have the capability wat we need is govt support to private ship builders. we can make a start by giving order for light patrol vessels and then gradually build upp from there.

But Govt. Investment in Public Shipbuilding yards to expand it's infrastructure might also help...

If you look up, we are rapidly bolstering our shipyard capabilities. Also, now as private yards like pipavav come into play, the whol dynamics is going to change

So in the future we will see 3 Projects 15A's or Kolkata Class and 4 Project 15B's?

When will the Brahmos be integrated into the Rajput and Delhi Class?Are there any plans of integrating the Nirbhay into any of our destroyers?

Coming to frigates the Navy is going for 5 Project 17 Shivalik Class and 7 Project 17A's?

lol Good one. But this is also possible this increases competition. Like whenever INS Mamta hear that INS Jyoti Basu have destroyed two enemy ships, she will do whatever possible to score three kills. lol Same for INS Sushma and INS Sonia.

Around 35000 crore for just 4 destroyers ??? Isn't it too much ?? Almost 7.78 billion $ for just 4 destroyers, that means 1.945 billion $. Look guys everything is fine but this money is too much. You might think that it must be one hell of a destroyer but guys still the amount is too much, i mean we have alloted 4 billion$ for 4 LPDs under buy and make category, just think yourself how can this allotment be so much more ??

Whatever they are making, i don't think it would be much more advanced than UKs type 45 destroyer which only cost 976 million $ per destroyer. Even US DDG 51 Arleigh Burke destroyer, which is one of the most expensive destroyer, costs around $ 1.8 billion. Not to mention we are not using Aegis system, so this high cost is confusing.

In short project 15B destroyers will be the most expensive destroyer in the world.

No they wont. The new US Zumwalt class destroyers cost over 3.5 Billion each. And I doubt 1.8 billion is the cost of each destroyer. It'll be in the range of 1.2 billion. A lot of money goes into the designing, refitting of shipyards etc.

What you want to refit the shipyard before every project ?? Refitting is almost over and it was meant to support modular shipbuilding both in GRSE and MDL. And shipyard up-gradation does not come under any specific project like P15b or p17a. Designing doesnot cost this much. You can do designing within 100 crores in India.

Neither GRSE or MDL is building by a "fully" modular method yet. Check the ship launch photos to check that out.

1.In India, bicycles, scooters and Maruti 800s are cheap. Why?? because the raw materials are cheap and they are made in humongous numbers.
2.Mercedes Benz "S class" sedan built in India are not cheap. Why?? because the raw materials, components and gidgets cost far more and the production numbers are so small.
Where would you slot Navy Destroyers? Category 1 or Category 2. That is indeed a no brainer.

Don't let this idea of being able to build everything "cheap" overpower you.
