While many are waiting for Mirages to finally retire from PAF, very few of us know that Mirages were way ahead of their time in aviation technology. Flight stabilization & shock cone optimization mechanism were some of the technologies that gave a major boost to its performance

Shafiq Haider on the right, arguably THE best Mirage pilot PAF has produced. He retired as VCAS and in my opinion should have been a CAS..highly qualified and had the full makings of a CAS. I am not sure what he did after retiring but i hope Pakistan used him as an Ambassador or gave him an important assignment as he was a highly articulate and a very capable officer

Air Marshal (then Gp Capt) Shafique haider who later became VCAS. Arguably one of the best Mirage pilots PAF has produced! Defintely CAS material but unfortunately he lost out to Abbas Khattak who was equally as dynamic and qualified.,.tough competition those days for the CAS crown

PAF is set to retire most of its non-ROSE modified fleet due to capability obsolescence. This will result in multiple squadrons getting number plated to be replaced by JF-17C and J-10CE in future. This will also timely spare aircrew for training on advanced fighters and UCAVs.
