I think if Pakistan hadn't sent the troops in 1947, maybe Kashmir would have been an independent country by now, something like Nepal. But just Kashmir though, not sure about Jammu.
But now, we simply cannot let go of our land and similarly I'm sure you guys don't want to let go of your land as well. Kashmir is now part of India, they are free to settle anywhere in India if they wish and enjoy the benefits of Indian democracy.
