45 More MiG 29K for Indian Navy.

I think that IN wants to buy 50 in the first phase which they already ordered and 50 in the next phase and may be some 30 Rafael too. I don't think so that IN actually in every way loves LCA, but they will/might acquire it for dignity.

Why Rafale???? Vikadi and Vikrant I is SATOBAR. Vikadi will come India by end of 2012, while Vikrant I in 2016.

Vikrant II which will be CATOBAR most likely to come in 2018-19. It is rumor that VIK-II will have EMALS on it, there is one possibility that India buy F35 with EMALS technology.. . FYI French don't have this technology now.

If VIK-II will have steam catapult then there is small chance that Rafeal will be selected.


When IN is not clear what technology IAC-II will have , how can we think of Rafael now???? For now what I can see is more MiG29K, then NLCA later IN will force agency to work hard on 5th gen fighters (mostly AMCA, FGFA (Less possible coz of its size) or F35)..

It took just eight Sea Hawks from INS Vikrant in 1971 war to set Chittagong harbour ablaze & impose a naval blockade of former East Pakistan, wonder what a squadron strength (21 aircrafts) of Mig 29 with latest upgrades can do from the north of Pakistan, maybe destruct/obstruct the supply lines of Azad Kashmir So each plane count bro & you are underestimating a complete squadron of 4th gen fighters

Doesn't realize that a single fighter fully loaded and having a range of 2000 KM can do several rounds over their entire breadth of the country if unchecked.. and an entire squadron can send the economy to it's knees ( if unchecked )

mate, here we are talking about a 3 fronts for Pakistan:

First from the eastern side i.e IA & IAF

Second from the southern side i.e Indian Navy imposing blockade

Third from the Norther side i.e. IAF mig-29s from Tajik air base

also, i would not be surprised if there is a fourth front either from Iran or Afghanistan, both of whom have good relations with India, there maybe some Indian military persons in Afghanistan though limited in numbers (just an assumption, don't jump on me for that....)

Stop dreaming, we are not going with war with Pakistan. They are our blood, how can we go in war with them. Lets concentrate on MiG29K

bro, i also know that in today's circumstance a full scale war is near impossible, but whatever plans our armed forces make, whatever inductions, whatever productions, it's ultimately for fighting & winning war, my comment was in respect "if" war happens with Pakistan.

can mig-29k be given structural changes to carry 1 Brahmos missile in it's centreline such as Su-30mki? if this can happen it will give a great boost to IN in the IOR region as a whole.

BrahMos Corp. is looking to develop a new anti-ship missile with a smaller diameter and lighter weight than the present BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. The proposal, tentatively called BrahMos-3, is aimed at putting together a potent anti-ship/anti-surface missile for the Indian Navy's MiG-29K and IAF MMRCA.

Revealing plans for the BrahMos-3 today at Defexpo, BrahMos CEO Dr A. Sivathanu Pillai said the first test-firing of a BrahMos from a modified Su-30MKI (modifications by HAL) would take place by early next year.

The BrahMos-2, a concept scramjet-based hypersonic version of the missile has begun development, and the programme aims at a first test in five years, Dr Pillai says. The long-awaited underwater-launched version of the BrahMos is expected to undergo its first test within 2012, and is understood to be ready in all respects.

The BrahMos recently conducted two successful tests of the army land attack variant of the missile, in which it performed supersonic steep dives in both tests.
