What's new

Britain, Turkey sign defence deal to develop Turkish fighter jet

It's not a JV, just a R&D help from the UK, it will stay turkey property. so pakistan can enter, the only hic will be with engine, if it's not-owned/homemade engine then the other country could be able to block otherwise, if turkey want, pakistan can join

I do not believe. Never !

The English had always wanted a plane to replace the Eurofighter Typhoon which is not qualified to face the fifth-generation combat aircraft.

The Americans duped them with the F35 project to which they offered a lot of money and technology transfers but for which they will not receive much in return.

But neither Germany, nor any other European country wants to reiterate the chaotic experience of the Eurofighter.

With the Brexit, the English finally finds an excuse to move forward, a technology partner - The Turkish aeronautical level is now sufficiently mature - and financial.

Haha, not really. Islamists were guarding US soldiers in Incirlik with their bare bodies (and their dirty beards) against seculars who wanted to kick the shit out of them.

Pretty much everyone in our country, regardless of ideology, support hardcore self sufficiency. If CHP were in the power and the nation would be utterly secular, then the pace of nationalization would be even faster due to more educated and open minded questioning work force we would be having today.

"They are doing it" != "They are the only one who would do it"

That is just a terrible logic right there.

Why do you think countries search for independance, and mostly in defense area?? It's not for the mighty beauty of it, but for future possible sanctions... ( money and influence too in some extent) and countries where gov is not perfectly open or whatever he's doing ( like semi demos, or dictatorship or anyone that do not abide fully to others rule) fear sanctions... that's why they seek autonomy in those vital key area...

I don't thik UK will buy jets from turkey, even if it's a good one... their F-35 are coming along and if they need new jets for support roles, they have other EU or the US jets for that

No. We started to seek more independence in military sector after we got sanctioned by the West after we invaded Cyprus.

Guess which party was in power.. Both the government and the president were secular, and THEY singlehandedly started nationalization from scratch.

Well the first one actually was Ataturk who built domestic warplanes in 1930's.. And guess what, Ataturk was a secular. Islamist governments after him closed down the military factories, they also closed down our car factories. If they had not closed down, we would be the Germany today.

And more than 5 decades of Islamist rulings, they didn't do anything about it!

I am sorry but the Islamist in our country lack the capability to think, hence the stupidities we are facing here right now.

Will see, it's not like Turkey gonna turn into an islamic state anytime soon... It's still a democracy with an ELECTED president who wants to change things to his advantage, and thanks to those LAWS made by past SECULAR GOV :) In the end everything is democratic

Fifth-generation combat aircraft ? Who ? The Dassault Rafale...

...or the US jets for that

I repeat again : The English had always wanted a plane to replace the Eurofighter Typhoon which is not qualified to face the fifth-generation combat aircraft. This aircraft will be in duet to fighter F-35.

But neither Germany, nor any other European country wants to reiterate the chaotic experience of the Eurofighter.

First gold rule of BAE-TAI talks was about No Limitation at Export. Britain has guaranteed that there would be no limitation to Turkey for export markets and they received all permisions so cooperation matured and deal has signed.

That quote is fake, like most of the things you think you know.

Any evidence? There is a reason founding fathers designed US to be a constitutional republic instead of a democracy.

The F-35 has no capacity Supercruise.

In EU, outside the Dassault Rafale, there is nothing. It has no other combat aircraft.

Last point, the English never want to be totally dependent on the USA. Otherwise they would not have launched the Eurofigter project with Germany, Italy and Spain. They would have simply bought the F-15.
