TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

Ukr? No. Brits? Yes. I think RR company can propose a military engine to be derived from the Pearl 10 civil aviation engine. If this cooperation is realized, yes, the engine with the desired thrust (35.000 lbf with afterburner) can be reached until 2030. Otherwise IMO it would be very questionable if we could produce a turbofan that would run at that date and be safe.
Yeah the biggest bet is BAE. Ukrainians can hardly do anything about that now anyway. How come the Russians weren't asked to help from the beginning? I mean before the war in Ukraine started.

Firstly, the Russians could not put their Izdeliye 30 engines in the state they wanted. It is very, very doubtful that they have sufficient technical ability. Those who emerged in the Ukrainian war also support this.

Secondly, we are not a country eager to cooperate with the Russians. The S-400 incident should be evaluated in the context of the Syrian issue. It is the result of unusual circumstances.

Thirdly the Russians would not give us such technology. Instead, they prefer to drink vodka until the morning and thus die of alcohol poisoning! LOL

The assembly line is top notch. Comparable to the top manufacturers like Boeing and Lockheed. TA makes a point to mimic the best practices from around the world and they do a very good job at it. This is now obvious for everyone to see.

The issues with TFX initial production are teething problems and supply chain issues caused by geopolitics (believe it or not). But I'm very sure that they will make the unveil date in 2023. Those folks are working like crazy. Overtime is a regular thing.

It's wonderful to see the Turks excel. It's just a shame that their success didn't land well enough in Pakistan to encourage our decision-makers to collaborate with them more proactively. tbh, none of what we see now is surprising, not to me anyways. There were signs, even 10 years ago, to indicate that Turkey was on the right track and on pace.

The best way to describe Pakistan's defence establishment is a collection of groups of 5-10 people that are trying to impress their bosses and nothing else. Some guy will say to his boss "Sar we will make A", and he'll order 5 guys under him, who will go around the planet telling everyone we're making A and asking for collaborations and what not. When the other side says ok lets do it, there's nothing to back those commitments up because A was just one guy's whim being propagated by 5 people. Some other 5 people have no idea about A and are probably pushing for B.

So I don't think there was some high-level conscious decision to not partake in the TFX. I'm sure some people thought it was a good idea but it was just 5 people (to abuse that number a little) whose willingness went away with their next posting. Outsiders think we are instituions - but we are a loose collection of giant egos and competing interests.

How long will it take them to realise that this is not how a defence industry is run and certainly not how you produce effective high tech equipment? They need to let go of their ego and see how far their peers are advancing ahead of Pakistan due to them

Historic week for the Turkish aviation industry.
  • KE high speed taxi trials
  • MMU final assembly ceremony

In general, expect brand new UCAV system launch, and sharing about Hurjet's taxiing activities before the end of 2022.
Would love to see the Kizilelma UCAV and the T-FX do a flyby side by side on the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic 2023. Nothing fancy, just a joint flight over the test facility alongside the first Turkish Republic airplane from 1923.

India is a different case they have been working on an engine for last 40 years and they are very likely to come up with their own 91kn engine in next 10 years and that’s the only reason why USA didn’t stop them from buying different GE engines for different blocks of Tejas
The Kaveri engine which Indians developed after an extensive research of 40 years produces 52kn of dry thrust and 81kn of wet thrust it’s currently under testing in Russia
Though 81kn is not enough to power Tejas series of aircraft because the GE F404 IN20 engines Used in Tejas produces 91kn of thrust but it’s still a big achievement they will use kaveri engine in drones and trainer jets.
The only thing where indians lack in engine technology is the hot core section particularly the metallurgy section but just because they don’t have the technology now doesn’t mean they won’t have it in future they are very likely to master the hot core technology in next 10 years.
Not to mention India is asking France , UK , and Britain to co develop an engine for AMCA with full IP rights over the engine technology now whether these countries would agree to this offer or not is a different thing but India will continue working on the engine anyway

I doubt those European engine manufacturer will give you IP right and help you make engine like they have already made. They are not that stupid.

Reason of Turkey still use American engine is because we need to make things in steps. Dont see thing in just 5-10 years period but better 10-20 years from now. The same thing also happened with South Korea-Indonesia join cooperation. As our Habibie said, "Begin at the End and End at the Beginning".

Pak can use this facility to test JF17s, cruise missiles etc....
Any indications Turkish industry would like to offer modifications for the JF-17? Sub-system and weapons integration would be a plus if the Azeris are looking to procure the JF-17 and also want to operate it with Turkish weapons (alongside Chinese weapons) or a unique Turkish datalink, to share ISR data with the Turks.

Talking about jet engine, Muslim world now has both Iran and Turkey as possible supplier. Even Indonesia has already started buying Iranian turbojet

-------------------------

Indonesia's main export commodities to Iran are peanuts, palm oil, motorcycles, wood fiber, and industrial monocarboxylic fatty acids. Meanwhile, Indonesia's main import commodities from Iran are turbo jets and other gas turbines, dates, iron or steel rods, instruments, apparatus and models designed for demonstration purposes, as well as alkaloids.

Ah it makes sense. Very well-said. And yeah, they've been left behind so much in certain matters. For example, like a Pakistani friend of mine said,Russians haven't digitalised a lot of their military equipment.

Here some better images! ... and I'm still speechless! :cheesy:
