Writer Umera Ahmed Says Her "Dhoop ki Diwaar" Script Was Approved by ISPR

@Areesh @Ace of Spades

Please read through tweets by Ejaz Haider linked below. As I had pointed out earlier, we needed to wait to understand what exactly ISPR reviewed and that it was likely merely feedback on military uniforms, lingo etc.

Ejaz Haider goes a step further and says that ISPR should have been more heavily involved given use of military characters and the subject matter, but to me that once again falls into an area where I would be reluctant to give ISPR some kind of veto over creative content. That responsibility should be with the content creators and/or a civilian run entity like PEMRA or the censor board designed specifically to vet content produced and/or distributed in Pakistan.

This only shows that ISPR acted carelessly and didn't bother to check the script and now the writer is trying to shift the blame to ISPR even though they never bothered to check the whole script

And my point is that ISPR should NOT be involved in the business of checking scripts, unless the script involves the accounts of battles, conflicts etc and ISPR feedback is needed to ensure the accuracy of how said battles/conflicts took place.

Honestly, even if you involved a civilian entity in a script review process to ensure ‘national interests’ the Fauj is going to get blamed by the usual suspects for ‘censorship and stifling freedom of speech’.

I would ask why ISPR or any other entity is needed to vet scripts - why aren’t our writers, directors and producers themselves cognizant about how to project Pakistani interests?

Hell, if they’re that ignorant, send it to some people on Defence.pk or submit it to countless analysts in the media (like Ejaz Haider for example) to provide feedback on the script.

ISPR cannot and should not be responsible for monitoring the behavior of 220 million people to make sure we don’t compromise Pakistan’s interests.
All this exposes is the incompetence if ISPR & Co., so they sold the script and Zee can do what ever it wants and tarnish Pak Army image.

What a wonderful job.
ISPR did not sell the script. ISPR had nothing to do with the script and should continue to have nothing to do with scripts that are not produced or sponsored by ISPR.

That's good but modus operandi should've had been a clarification from ISPR after writer pinned the responsibility on ISPR not from ejaz haider.

Nonetheless; as much as i agree with you that ISPR shouldn't be involved in media management whatsoever, this however, is a particular case if seen in context of what writer has accused ISPR of. Even if we take the version of ejaz haider as a gospel and agree to what he says; still damage has been done. Heads needs to be rolled and responsibility needs to be fixed on whether it's in ISPR, writer, or PEMRA. Such acceptance and propagation of India's narrative with ISPR's name attached to it "maliciously" or "in actuality" needs to be investigated. However, it's too much to ask I guess; innocent me.... it's gonna be brushed under the carpet like many other issues.

I should clarify I meant the writer and Group M

ISPR didn't sold any script neither they properly bother to review it. In fact after production they were supposed to share final product with ISPR even that was not done. ISPR was during transition. It shows one thing during transition it's free for all in ISPR which needs to be resolved. It's utter shame that without head in place ISPR can be run like a children's nursery.

I corrected myself later meant to state Umera and Group M sold the script
