Whats going on in Mashhad?

I know, but than it was 90% population which voted Mosuvi but only 1% came out in streets.

2009 protests were protests against election results they were not an attempt of a government overthrow for 10% of the people to take to the streets!

And far more than 1% came to the streets to protest the election results Azadi Sq and adjacent streets were filled with people but even then NO 10% of Tehran's population did not come to the streets and again it was protest against election results not every person that voted for Mosavi came to the streets and there were so many people that the point was made

1% came to the streets to protest the election results Azadi Sq and adjacent streets were filled with people but even then NO 10% of Tehran's population did not come to the streets

protests were indeed against the election results which they were sure are rigged.
Unfortunately there was no possibility of international coverage but leaked videos suggested deadly clashes in every city.
If it was only Azadi square.. protests would be diminished within an hour not prolonged for weeks.

Tehran's population is about 8.8 Million People now by comparison, Washington Redskins FedEx stadium holds 82,000 people which is less than 1% of Tehran's (City) population!

So this is what only ~1% of Tehran's population looks like:

So about 1 out of every 100 people in Tehran would fill FedEx Field!
And you can't show a single video or image that shows even 1% of Tehran's population protesting and when you can't even get 1% of the capitals population out to support you then there isn't really a threat of an overthrow and not all the slogans are necessarily opinions of the majority!

Now for protests to be a real threat to the Iranian government they'll need at least 10% of Tehran's population out protesting that's 10 FedEx Fields filled with people protesting in Tehran alone and even then that would only be 1 out of every 10 people in Tehran!

These protests for now can't even match the 2009 protests that were mainly about the election results not a government overthrow!
I wasn't referencing the size of the crowds. In fact I don't believe what's happening in IRI is an uprising. I was challenging the contention that IRI's narrative to blame the disaffected has ever worked - blame the people, use disproportionate force to silence the people, and all will be well. What's happening in IRI is a demand for accountability from a government that claims the mantel of support for the dispossessed and forgotten, and yet has ignored her own population. You need only look at the latest budget to figure out where IRI's priorities lay: a shameful display of arrogance and indifference towards the plight of it's people. You need to only look at how the embezzlement scandals are handled by IRI to see that a government run by related individuals will not imprison their own cousins or nephews or brother-in-laws, etc. You only need to look at the environmental disaster that is Tehran, Ahwaz, Lake Ouromieh, etc. You only need to look at youth unemployment. So to say that people are to blame is just hypocritical and ignorant.
I don't believe Iranians are looking for another revolution, more like an evolution towards a more responsive, transparent and democratic IRI (that's my view, so take it with a grain of salt). I wish them all good fortune because they do deserve good governance.

It's not easy even for 1% of any population to risk their lives and even worse, risk torture and rape by coming out and making themselves public. But many are already doing it. You also need a good trigger for things to kick into high gear. And things may go very quickly after that point. But I'm a fan of consistent pressure, so that the regime has the opportunity to modify, before everything is burned down. However, I'm not sure if they have the wisdom to do that. Tyrants are usually not willing to give in, until it's too late. Just like Shah...

These protest were small and insignificant in number! And a real tyrant would have deployed Tanks, APC & would have opened fire on people in 2009!

NONE of the slogans used in the recent protest were a genuine push towards better social or economic policies!

Did you hear large group of protesters screaming against "Hejab by force"?
Did you hear large group of protesters screaming for "Freedom of expression" or "Freedom of press"?
Did you hear large group of protesters chanting anything about any specific economic policies that they think should be changed?

Which Iranian in there right mind thinks Iran should be spending less on it's military when we are already spending less than every other country in the region & haven't purchased a new fleet of Air superiority fighter in over 40 years? In Iran increased MOD budget = more JOBS for skilled workers & collage graduates!

Which Iranian in there right mind thinks it's better for Iran to have less influence among regional states? At the end of the day more influence = more exports and better economic opportunities for Iranian companies and citizens!

Which Iranian in there right mind thinks U.S. hostilities towards Iran has to do with Iran's support and relations with Hezbollah, Hamas, Lebanon, Syria & Iraq? Qaddafi had none of that & handed over it's missiles & WMD's and the U.S. still bombed Libya and destroyed that country! Iranian's are NOT blind!

If these protest were truly genuine and were truly about bettering Iran rather than chanting "Na Gazeh, na Lebanon, Janam fadayeh Iran" (which at it's root is anti Iranian slogan) they would have been chanting "Marg bar rosary ba to sari"

If these protest were truly genuine and about bettering Iran rather than Chanting for the Pahlavi dictatorship to come to Iran they would have been chanting for free press!

If they were genuine rather than calling for the death of a President elected by a vast majority they would have chanted against specific policies made by him.... And there are plenty of policies made by Rohani that upsets me but calling for the death of an elected official rather than specific policies, action or inactions made by him is counterintuitive

Fact is the absurd and deluded slogans IS THE MAIN reason why NOT EVEN 1% of Iranian came out to support them!
Do you understand how low 1% is? that means if we say on average each family has 4 members not even 1 family member out of 25 families in Tehran came out to support these people! And they couldn't even achieve that!

Fact is MOST of Iran's economic problems has to do with Hejab by force and policies that make Iran an unattractive location to take a vacation not sanctions!
Tourism is the largest and the most valuable industry in the world and the root cause of Iran's problems has to do with the monetary deficit in Tourism that means more money (specifically foreign currency) is going out than coming in.
And the reasons why Iran isn't an attractive location to take your family on a vacation is CLEAR!
Hejab by force, Lack of legally distributed Alcoholic beverages, Lack of night life, Segregated Beaches,....

Iranian leaders and presidents are all aware of this and have been trying to make up for Iran's deficit in international currency with Oil and foreign investments but that only fills your cup up to a point in a country of over 80 million people that's larger than France, Germany, Italy & UK combined.

My point is when you have such large issues facing your country and rather than protesting for real issues to better Iran, you see so called protesters screaming death to this person and that person, criticize Iran's foreign policy & chant for Iran to go back to a dictatorial monarchy led by a spoiled prince living in the U.S. (All of which are exactly what Iran's enemies want!) then I and most Iranian would look at that and say the government is right these protest are NOT genuine & were organized & sponsored by foreign countries and started by foreign agents

I don't know about you guys but this has MEK and Ayatollah Mike's fingerprints all over it... If you MEK sheeps are reading this you guys are a nothing but a bunch of gutless traitors. How can you side with Mossad and the CIA? You monkeys won't be happy till Iran is turned into a failed state.

1st off as Iran's president clearly stated people have every right to "protest" BUT the right to protest doesn't give you the right to riot and doesn't give you the right to destroy public and privet property!
People that break the windows of bank, people that burn cars & buildings aren't protesting they are rioting and protesting and rioting are two different things!
The government not only has every right but is obligated to bring forces to protect public and privet property!

As for the deaths today every person is equipped with a cellphone and a camera and without images of how a person died commenting on it is absurd! You don't know if the person that got shot was trying to break into a bank, was beating a police officer to death, or attempted to raid a military base, got trampled on by protesters running away or was peacefully protesting & got shot by a crazy police or security officer and so far I haven't seen a single video that shows disproportionate force!

Today in the U.S. if you conduct protest without a permit that causes intersection to be closed off the police will come out in riot gear and attempt to disperse the crowed and if you start breaking windows you will get arrested and if you start beating up a cop or attempt to raid a police station you WILL GET SHOT and it will be a clean shoot! So why should it be any different in Iran?

In Iran the brother of Iran's president get arrested if he breaks the law! And the notion that family connection don't matter in the U.S. is an absurd LIE! All you have to do is look at the Bush family and even the current administration with Jerad Kushner and that's just what you see in public what happens behind closed doors in the U.S. is far more sinister compared to what happens in Iran main difference being in the U.S. they do a far better job at hiding it behind shell companies and shareholder rights and privacy that's why they pay CEO's such big bucks

And an evolution towards better governance..... is the wish of the people of all nations and Iran is no different!

The rebellion in IRAN is in testing phase by the enemies. If the enemies decide It will soon turn into an Armed conflict and will spread all over Iran. daesh and alqaida is now well entrenched in Iran with support from turkey and pakistan. Infact Iranians can't foresee what is next. this is big problem for them. when their pants are taken off they only struggle to put it back. They lack understanding and capability to kill the roots of the trouble. their goodwill infact only strengthen enemies. It is time for Iran to review its policies and kill the so-called islamic solidarity that is haunting and hurting them. They like or Not War will be fought inside Iranian Lands which Iranian establishment cannot believe till their pants will be taken off by the enemies. this is big problem for Iran that the loyal revolutionary elements are Not getting their due rights in the name of Islam and are told to live with patience while the enemies of revolution living as hypocrites are enjoying all the privileges and flourishing. Mashad and Tabriz are the most endangered cities by the nuclear terrorists while to handle south without nukes is not a big deal for terrorists. It is now becoming more evident and true what the saudi crown prince said that War will be fought inside IRAN.

What the FU** you are talking about you little piece of sh|t. Pakistan helping Deash in Iran? You lost your marbles in the hate for Pakistan?

Deash was bought into Afghansitan by non other then CIA/MOSSAD. every tom dick and harry know this. Your verbal diarrhea got into your head I suppose.

Then perhaps you can explain why is IRI blocking Telegram? If as you say that the president has stated people have the right to protest, then why is it in the past 30+ years only the supporters of IRI have held rallies? How is it that monarchists or socialists or reformists have not taken advantage of this "right"?
Just heard that Mr. Khamenie is blaming "the enemies" of IRI for what's happening in Iran. Perhaps it will bode better for IRI to look in the mirror, clean house, and listen to her citizens.

it took telegram 5 hours to block amadnews channel for promoting violent riots and teaching how to build molotovs .
then few hours later we saw a tweet from ceo of telegram that he rejected to block other peaceful channel with the name of the channel in that tweet = promoting another channel and leading the way for some potential users who had no idea for choosing new leading channel
we have a saying in persian about it let me kindly share it for better future of telegram decision makers : where you earning your money don't take out your d*ck

Not to be off topic (I full heartedly agree with you) but the fear is Iran becoming balkanized through internal instability and external pressure from regional and extra regional powers that want to divide Iran up and get rid of Iranian influence in it's entirety. Iran is the only real force against the expansionist Israelis and the Saudis.

For me all I see is a potential for something righteous being turned into a force of utter destruction as blind rage and anger takes over.

We all can agree that Iran's governments handling of internal monetary affairs is just deplorable and has screwed over it's lower rung of society and even middle and higher ones but sanctions do seem to have taken their toll in conjunction with the inherit corruption of the clerical government.

To any Iranians I will say this. Keep your wits about you, do not let the lies of Israel and the US saying the Iranian people are our "friends" fool you. They hate Iranians and Iranian sovereignty. To them they want Iran to be another Banana republic under their control.

Get rid of the mullahs or whatever but keep your sovereignty intact.

They are so small they can not create a revolution and they are very weak. And they are very unpopular in Iranian society. sooo noooo revolution.

Baradarjan, chera dorogh migi? Mardoom rikhtan biroon too hameye shahra daran vahshibazi darmiaran, mamlekato daran mizanan be ham.. Vazemoon kharabe.

I think its Saudi and Israeli mischief.

I wont be surprised if somehow ISIS finds its way in Iran. ISIS and Al Qaeda before it are all Saudi indoctrinated devils. They are used for strategic purposes.

Right now, Iran is the target for both Saudi and Israel. There always are genuine grievances of the public. But they can easily played up against the nation on target.

Saudis have played with this fire before. I hope this fire engulfs House of Saud too some day. These motherf*ckers have used Islam from days of Ottomans to incite rebellion and terror.

PS - I equally hate Iran using religion to promote its interests.

I'm talking about the reality but the results announced by the regime were surely different.

There were 4 independent polls conducted by International poling outfits( 1 before the elections and 3 after the elections) and all of the results of these polls were very close to the 11 polls conducted by the University of Tehran which gave Ahmadinejad a 2 to 1 lead over Mousavi.

I don't know were you get your "reality" but I suspect that it resides up your back side!

what is happening in Iran? According to few website, Iran is burning across the country and rebels taking over the control o_O US done in Syria, Turkey prevented it's turn in 15 July, now US's new target will be Iran. You need to suppress rebels and not to be broken that easy.

How is the situation in Iran? Who controls the streets, rebels or police/revolition guards?

Propaganda more than anything else.

Reality is Ahmadinejad was the winner. Plain and simple. He got the votes on all small cities that hold the majority of Iran's population. He didn't get the votes in Tehran.
