Not an American base but an Indian base supporting/providing "logistics" to American vessels,Thus their is no foreign base on our soil ,no question of it.Btw why ppl forget its both ways.?

Doesn't India want to be an ally of the US? To become a true ally, you have to allow US troops to be stationed in your country, and the troops are not subject to the local law. Of course, it does apply the other way around.

That's the case for Japan, UK, Gernamy, etc. Those are true allies of the USA.

India and US will get access to each others through LEMOA. So, no one has upper hand here.

Somebody is thinking that US soldiers will be stationed and allow to do whatever they want.
So, let me tell them treaty is remodified for India.
It's LEMOA not LSA.
First main point, they can't come without invitation.
If everybody here looks at matter without our emotional and nationalistic superiority complex and neutral mindset, India has actually been a very successful player in diplomacy even after lagging behind economically and technically due to liberalization started much later in 90s.
Corporated with Soviets to rule the region and now US as shield till our economy expands.
Once it touches heights, R&D budget with leap huge hops giving us a technological revolution possibly and a very large defense budget enough for a fierce military.

The day India let US to have a military/civilian base and its hardware on Indian soil against any 3rd country,India would became a failed state and Banana republic offering the sovereignty to the highest bidder.

India already did that. In early 1960's, US recon U2s were based in India to spy on Mao. Indian bases were used in desert storm to refuel US planes. This time, we are getting something in return...

Even more China irked the Indian navy by sending warships and nuclear submarines inside Indian waters in Andaman

Even PAF jet was refueled last yaer at Lucknow when it made an emergency landing.


There were no permanent USAF presence in 60s,US gave us AID trained SFF (Tibetan) etc etc it was based on mutual interest.

Now US won't give us TOT,even for a Rifle and this move will alienate Russia as well.

What I am saying is US had a "permanent" air base in India (Charbatia) for atleast 10 years, from 1957-67.

Where is Fall here ? Now we could be assured of US assistance to India in case of Chinese aggression . Its a design slowly getting out of hand for China. Japan Australia Vietnam Philippines US ??? Against China . Obvious result ? What is fall for îndiąn diplomacy here ? Wait till you here news about ToT India specific .
