Very concerned with development of Indian navy: Pakistan naval chief

dont dare come near any of our subs.. you have been warned...
We wont!! They blow up unexpectedly!!!
Joke aside. I think the naval chief is hankering for some more equipment. The F22 purchase is in the balance and the chinese purchase of subs is on hold. The problem with naval platofrms is that it takes a long time to get used to platforms and run them efiiciently. Even if we were to buy todya, it would take five-six yrs to deliver, two to three yrsa if not more to get comfortable with the platform, so it all takes time. If we forsee a need in 2025 we need to prepare from now otherwise we wont be ready in time. This is why he is having a gripew. Otherwise it is standard operating protocol for both armed forces to cry over the others acquisition.

@Aeronaut and others we need to go for more Frigates and Submarines and do it soon and if economy is not improving we would have to ask for financial help from Gulf countries specially from Saudi Arabia and UAE and Bahrain and also Kuwait because time is running out @araz Sir Naval Cheif is just telling the truth we need to do something really fast

It's high time we allow our navy to develop to fully tackle the Indian navy.

Actually, Indian navy gets smallest share in defense budget, IA gets biggest share.

However, IN plans to have 160 ships in coming years and is undergoing modernization.

We need to learn first how to protect our prized assets keeping in mind how P3C orions and Erieye were destroyed in peace times.
On topic PN will get a good spanking if war is to breakup between the two sides. It is the weakest arm of our armed forces and sadly to date nothing is being done to revive this arm and now that our economy is too in shackles, the gap between PN and IN will only widen.

please dont make fun of our scarcity. this is all we can afford.

You could afford more if you set your priorities right. IMO, reducing the expenditure on the army (especially infantry) and diverting that to the PAF and PN would improve overall defence capability for Pak. The PN is getting a truly raw deal, and being treated as a cinderella service. Reducing a couple of army divisions, and intead getting a squadron or two of top end F-16s, or five state of the art submarines, can give India some reason to be worried.

Zarvan.
Your economy will not improve till you can have peace and calm. In this regards you need to make up your mind whether you are going to fight the talibans or make peace and go with it. Half of this with a bit of that will never work. No one in their right mind will invest in pakistan in current conditions. We will also not have any improvement if we cant improve our produce which is reliant on enrgy which we are desperately short on. in this regards we need to improve our hydroelectrical power generation capacity as well as renewable and nuclear energy sources. the former will improve our irrigation system and protect us from unexpected floods and hte latter will be shart and medium term improvements. We cant improve our econokmy till we have people paying their taxes honestly and the government puts the money in projects for the betterment of the people. this will mean taxing all the people who have incomes excluding none, and dealing harshly with people who steal electricity and dont pay their energy bills.. Believe me if our economy improves we might not even need to have this conversation about war and fighting. All of this destruction will only benefit people from the outside who want to see the region turbulent. Pakistan needsa to now develop the shells of their ships themselves and only buy radars and other equipment which they cannot produce themselves. This needs vision leadership and money all three of which we are lacking at the moment. Plus people have this tendency to buy made in XYZ more so than made in pakistan as the levels of commisions that they get is much more. So they will go around begging left right and centre while our own shipyards will lie vacant without work and the managers will get fat doing nothing and the poor workers will get laid off .

This logic does not work vis a vie India. the problem is in respective buying powers. For everything we scrounge they can buy five times more. We are in a catch 22 situation. If we keep pace of their buying sapree, we will go bankrupt irrespective of how good our economy is. There may have been some bias against the navy in the past but now increasingly within the services there is a an awareness that the navy is equally important. the problem is the price of naval hardware is skyhigh and whereas yo can buy 12 F16s hoping to add 12 more next year , you cant buy hald a ship. The problems lie with the Pakuistani eceonomy and the mismanagement of it. As to reducing the strength of the footmen, the concerns remain that we will only match you at the end of the day mano e amno, adn if we reduce this further it will impact on our warpreparedeness. the last 15 yrs or even more in a state of war on the western front has severely dentedour economicpreparedness and put unparalleled strain on the resources and manpower. We cant reduce our manpower without jeoperdising our preparedness on one of the fronts.THERE IN MY DEAR WATSOIN LIES THE PLOT AND THE GAME THAT IS AFOOT

It's never going to give you long term solution considering the fleets operational and maintenance cost ...as @araz said you guyz should work on improving economy.

Beijing: Pakistan is "very concerned" with the development of the Indian navy which has emerged as "very powerful", Pakistan naval chief, Admiral Asif Sandila said today.

"The Indian navy is very strong I must say," Admiral Sandila, who is in China for the 65th anniversary celebrations of the Chinese navy told China's state-run Global Times.

"India is a big nation which has over one billion people. It has made a very powerful navy and continues to develop the navy forces," he said in reply to a question about his assessment of the Indian navy.

"On the other hand, Pakistan and India do not have very friendly relations at the moment, which makes people in Pakistan very concerned about the development of the Indian navy," he said.

"At the same time, we would like to do what we want to do if there's any threat to us. I don't want to say the threat can only come from one place, it can come from anywhere, but we want to be ready for that," Admiral Sandila said.

He stressed that the Chinese navy should play a bigger global role including in the Indian Ocean.

"The Chinese navy in my assessment has a very important role to play all over the world, not only in the South China Sea, or the Pacific and the India Ocean. China is a big power now and China has powerful navy forces," he said.

"Today the Chinese navy is operating for international causes. And of course they continue to play a very important role in anti-piracy in the gulf. China is also helping so many countries in Africa and Asia, I don't know how it can become a threat," he said.
