UN report places the blame for Saudi attack on Iranians

The CEP of an ICBM will be in the range of kilometers. Putting a conventional warhead on an ICBM makes no sense as it will be of little tactical and strategic value due to its inaccuracy and high cost. And building a reentry vehicle for an ICBM is the challenging part. Your projectile may have to reenter the atmosphere at a speed of +7,000 m/s (~26,000 km/h) at an angle of 23 degrees from the horizon. So, Iran should master the aerodynamics of hypersonic systems as well.
Of course Iran has to do that, and it will take some time, but we dont really know if they have already done the work, or that they are doing it. Also the IRGC should be able to achieve a high degree of accuracy in the future, once their own GPS system is ready and up in orbit. So accuracy wont be an issue. And sometimes a nuke isnt really needed to destroy a certain target, so its not worth wasting a nuke on such a target. This means that both conventional and nuclear warheads are needed.

Even if Iran manages to have a positioning system better than the GPS, the accuracy of an ICBM will remain low due to the challenges of the reentry phase. The inaccuracy of an ICBM is not only about guidance. Even with perfect satellite guidance, there are other sources of inaccuracy such as atmospheric variations and asymmetric ablation of the nose of the ICBM. These factors alone can make the CEP of the missile well above 200 meters, rendering it useless for hitting targets.

Asymmetric forces can be stabilized to limited extent by spinning the RV. Atmospheric variations are harder to overcome as they can be unpredictable.

That's why having operational ICBMs without strong unconventional warheads that can affect a large area doesn't make sense.

Weapons or ICBM development is not going to do anything for the status quo....as always the wild card that Iran holds is the Strait of Hormuz and disruption of maritime passage through it...this is more powerful than any ICBM will ever be.......however, this should be the weapon of the last resort...because it will mean war.

wrong. the lack of capability to hit the enemy only encourages them more

What?? We can already hit the enemy....they're all around the gulf. There are bases in Bahrain, UAE, Saudi, and Iraq. Unless you want to send a missile over to U.S. which would be just foolish.

Persian gulf.
Its foolish to just hit their bases around the region while their mainland is safe from any retaliation

Korea DPR should be a good example of a true deterrence

Yeah, ok....sure, fire missiles at the mainland USA....that will work beautifully. Geez :hitwall:

You're sick bro..get some help.
No, you're sick. Otherwise you wouldn't call the Persian Gulf just gulf as an Iranian.
Either that, or as I suspected before, you're not Iranian and you just pretend you are Iranian to learn more about Iran.

Your Persian is rusty. You made up a Persian saying that is never said like that. And you called the Persian Gulf "gulf". There's a high chance that you are not Iranian.

Man, here you go again, following me around, derailing my thread, even when I don't reply to you...you can't help yourself. Did you notice I didn't reply to your posts in my topic. I don't want to converse with you! Can you get that? GO AWAY! Stop stalking me, you little creep.
