Turkey is one of five NATO countries with an agreement to host US nuclear weapons. That is really close cooperation with a non-Western/non-European country like Turkey. At times of tension between the two, there are reports from American media/think tanks calling for their withdrawal saying Turkey can't be trusted, yet they have kept the agreement. It happened at least twice I think over differences in Iraq and Syria where the US was supporting Kurds. Turkey also did not allow US to bomb Iraq from the American base in Turkey during Gulf War, something which we wouldn't expect from one of the European allies.
