What's new

Turkiye will totally change the rules of game in region: TF-X MMU Stealth Fighter

A new A2A missile is coming. It is much shorter and narrow diameter than the Goktuğ short-to-medium range A2A missile.

It seems family of AA missiles for rotary and fixed wing platforms will be formed as follows :
- Hisar portable air missile? (AIM-92 Stinger equivalent)
- New Missile
- Göktuğ
- Bozdogan

It is shorter than Gökdoğan and having relatively smaller diameter than its big brother. Most probably, It will have less range than Gökdoğan but Developing a new smaller missile which will have a range shorter than short range AA missile don’t make much sense because the evolution of A2A missiles proceed towards longer range equivalents. In this aspect, I think This missile is not being developed for TurAF but TN and TLF for C-RAM. There is a program called Sapan which is going to be a RAM equivalent missile to be equipped on Naval ships and another one called Turkish Iron Dome called “GoldenCage”. This missile may be the main interceptor of those programs.

I really hope the project will be successful, it will be good for Turkey and the Muslim world.

However, I don't think British will share their engine technology, I know you mentioned about MOU on IP rights etc. But the such a project becoming successful is not in the interest of the US and Brits are the staunchest allies of the US. The Brits will likely pull out at some point, probably when they already made a decent amount of money but did not divulge much of their technology.

Turkey should go for a totally indigenous fighter including the engine or seek an alternative partner.

Best wishes for Turkey.
You was right about Britain (R-R) pulling out and not sharing engine technology which is too sensitive .

Turkey has invited Malaysia to join a mutual production of the MMU and Turkey's own training and light attack aircraft, the Hürjet. "We made them a proposal and they showed great interest," Kotil said.

Homegrown fighter jet to fly with domestic engine by 2029

Most likely, Mayalsia will be the first partner of TF-X MMU. Malaysian soldiers attented into introduction ceremony as well. Malaysia and Turkey has formed very strategic cooperations regarding establishment of joint micro-processor/chip facilities and composite production fields in KL summit. I think It is time to form a partnership for Tf-X MMU with Malaysia. If Malaysia become partner of program, The production facility to be costructed in there will be charged to export aircraft in Asia markets. In addition, Pakistan and Turkey is negotiating to establish a similar partnership for aircraft.

Btw, Turkey has officially invited Malaysia, Pakistan and Kazahstan to join into development of Atak-2 heavy class attack helicopter and T-625 Gökbey programs as well.

I am more concerned about the viability of Turkey's engine program for it's fifth generation fighter. Any collaboration with the west, and believe me there are but very few options on the table. Will be subject extreme prejudice in terms of technology sharing. Pakistan, China and Russia already know how fugly and biased the West is, when it comes to being a team player. They have a habit of keeping partner nations "under their thumb." As we have already witnessed, Rolls Royce has already pulled out of the TFX program. General Electric will be subject to Congressional authority. Finally the french, we all know what sort morons they can be.

Realistically speaking, from Pakistan's perspective, any participation by Pakistan in the TFX, would be subject to ironclad insulation from any sanctions. We have already witnessed the West being a prick, when it withdrew from supplying engines for the T-129 helicopter gunships being manufactured for Pakistan.

I would suggest that Turkey ensure it locks in any Western partner in it's TFX program, lock, stock and barrel. Otherwise they may be staring down a long road to the finish line for the TFX.

No nation will share engine tech with Turkey or anyone else for that matter. It is the crown jewel of aerospace tech. Just look at how much treasure and brainpower China is throwing at engine tech and is still not there yet.

Turkey has no choice but to pick the nation that will be the least difficult - that may mean working with Russia.
Their engines may not be quite as good as the West but should get the job done.

Turkey has actually knowledge to develop a domestic turbofan engine but According to official reports, It is predicted to take more than 10 years so The official schedule should be accelerated so It is tried to take RR into engine development program to benefit their expertise even if they don’t have an engine generating thrust level that Turkiye wants to develop. It is told that the engine that is being developed will generate a power around 29000lbf with afterburners. If we take this figure into consideration, Tf-X with twin engine will exceed the total thrust ratio of US F-35, French Rafale, European Eurofighter...etc. I mean Turkey targets to develop a promising engine. If we manage to develop such a beast, We will certainly change all power balances in this region.
