Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar had gone to London two days ago at the invitation of British Defense Minister Ben Wallace.
According to Marine Deal News, the Ministry of National Defense has signed a contract to procure a second-hand Type-23 class Frigates from the UK.
Displacement : 4,900 t
Length : 133 m
1 × BAE 4.5 inch Mk 8 naval gun
2 × 30 mm DS30M Mk2 guns
8 x HARPOON anti-ship missiles
32-cell GWS 35 VLS for 32 Sea Ceptor SAMs
The youngest Type-23 Frigates entered service between 2000 and 2002
Chilean Navy got 3 Type-23 Frigates for about £150 million
Turkiye can modernize Type-23 Frigates with most modern Systems and 100+ km SIPER air defense Systems to protect TCG ANADOLU to be deployed in Libya ( $50 million for modernization )

First I-class is scheduled to enter service this year, 3 more have been approved by the SSIK. Though it's not yet been decided which naval shipyard is going to build these, there are a few competitors.
I don't know for what reason we became interested in these british ships. This could mean finally retiring the Burak class, or maybe early retirement for a couple of OHPs.
Burak class certainly needs to retire but it could also be a political decision just to improve relations between the UK and Turkey considering the talks with RR over an engine deal. Pure speculation on my part.
