Starting in 2013, most of the US NATO partners are hightailing it out of Afghanistan with the US anxious to CUT AND RUN itself. That is the main reason why Panetta is sounding like a SOPRANO as US forces get kicked in the NUTS in the run up to the final days.

I know. see, nato troops are withdrawing even before 2014. us is desperate because they know it is nothing near their targeted "achievement". they only have 2 years left. they want to embrace india. that's why a lot of their carrot-waving in front of the indians!

My gut feeling is usa will act alone soon barging into Pakistan in full force before 2014 with their ground troops and F16s! the OP is to a certain extent quite credible when you put the pieces of the puzzle together! The deployment of an aircraft carrier in the littoral sea is the next signal to watch for!
