Should MMRCA be Scrapped Versis TEJAS/MIRAGE2000_5

If at all they scrap it now, next time all countries will ask a security payment of millions of dollars from our government for participation in any tender for the loss of it just in case. This deal has become too big and too touted to be scrapped off now. I wish they can buy something good in it and start allowing women to enroll for combat roles. The USA does it, Israel does it, England does it. Then why are we not allowed to?

I am against scrapping of MRCA. But delaying it by 1 or 2 years is good. It will free up some funds for pushing domestic R&D programs which are lagging by a decade behind China. Also, we can get in more recent technological(in the words of IAF Morons) features in agreement.

Women chat too much.

If the IAF are going to induct this MMRCA it needs to be done NOW.

SO THAT BY 2020 india can make smooth transition to PAK FA.

My fear is the MMRCA will run until 2024 THERE BY DELAYING PAK FA by nearly 5 years.

I CAN GURANTEE PLAAF will field 200+ JXX 5th gen fighters by 2024.

To buy 126 Typhoons will cripple india financially until 2024

UNLESS LCA MK2 is cancelled saving $4 billion

There's a great possibility of that because IAF prefer foreign goods, moreover the design and specification of mk2 is not so different from mk1. I don't think IAF will be happy...

Typhoon is most likely to win but still its not final yet. Government has already sanctioned 9 billion$ with a promise to add a couple more. Whenever money is sanctioned then we must not be worried because money is sanctioned only after taking everything into consideration specially in India. Don't worry it won't effect us. Also you are forgetting that half of the money is coming back to india in the form of offsets which will develop our industries and generate more jobs.

Regarding 5th gen, don't worry there would be delays in those projects because of the technicalities of the project, not to mention both India and Russia are not famous for maintaining their timeline. Also good thing with FGFA will be that we will have our own production line and we can produce any number of fighters for us and whenever we want.

Also atleast till 2030, these 4.5th gen fighters will still be dominating the airspace. Fighters like Eurofighter and rafale can last till 2040. The problem is we need MRCA immediately because of the shrinking IAF fleet.

Let's cancel PAK-FA and save $60 Billion and buy 300 F-18's. Sounds better?

MRCA is nothing but a crap which should be delayed and more focus, funding, efforts given to R&D programs like GTRE, AMCA and SARAS which are baseline projects for future Indian aerospace.

Delays in MRCA are good signs. We are on right path.

Time and again you come up with such wierd posts.

The Mirage production line cannot be opened. The only option is to upgrade the existing ones and buy second hand planes from outside.

The first flight of AMCA is expected in 2017 so its induction will take atleast 2020 or even 2022.

What do expect the IAF to do in the meantime?

Just one suggestion to IAF - "keep heads cool, take deep breath and stop *ing in pants and consult a doctor if you are still in 1965 trauma -"import now or we will die!".

Over optimism not going to help. AMCA won't be ready for induction before 2020, so you don't want to be at the mercy of your enemies at the time of crisis, are you?

You need to look at India's defense budget and India's GDP before posting comments like that. :disagree:

That's the problem with IAF. They never plan long-term. Why they always wake up late?

Well, you cannot rectify decades of mistakes within 1-2 years. AMCA is definitely a step in the right direction, but MMRCA is a necessity of the moment to fill the shortage in IAF.

Every mistake has a price to pay. IAF is paying that price now.

But I don't think IAF has learnt anything from past mistakes. They don't even admit that its their planning which failed.

MRCA tender would have served its purpose if the deal was struck 10 years before. Now, it lost its purpose. It is very late. After J20 flight test entire threat scenario has changed in Asia. China will field 5-Gen fighter by 2015. You can't fight and defend your borders with outdated 4th Gen fighters anymore.

Hope good sense prevails and this tender scraped for good.

Cancelling tender isn't a good idea. It has its utility. We can use it to our advantage by delaying it some more years.
