who is this genius who is saying give combat roles to women as US,israel allow it,get your darn facts straight only for air to ground attack aircraft are women there as far as naval and army combat roles go there is no country in the world that has women in them.israeli army was the first one to try for combat roles and then they stopped the programme and next time specify what type of combat ,combat in military has a lot of different meanings.

if you are saying for fighter aircraft then i say either try fighter jet simulations or experience real G-force during flight your whole perception will change it looks easy while watching topgun but in reality air-air,air-ground combat is one of the hardest things to master else every male cadet would have been a fighter pilot.

scrapping mmrca would be stupid. we need spare parts for mirages and engine for lca from mmrca winner.

It doesn't have any utility unless the tender change the requirements to 5th Gen Fighter which is almost equal to canceling it. The bottom line is we don't need 4th Gen fighter in large numbers anymore for long term security. 300 Su-MKI's are more than enough to defend the border.

By 2020 India will field a max of 40mk1 Tejas between 2012-2016 & 40 mk2 between 2016-2020 = 80 planes

No more than 80 MMRCA beginning 2014

That leaves 260-270 su30mki by 2017

180 mixed bag of Mig29smt. mirage2000 & jaguar = 35 sqds and 600+ planes.

YET BY 2018 RUSSIA will start to induct PAK FA & CHINA JXX prehaps 2019

in contrast HAS INDIA WILL HAVE 2 seperate 4 gen projects running for a further 40 Tejas & 26 mmrca THESE 2 LINES WILL CONTINUE until 2024.

By the time INDIA finishes LCA/MMRCA in 2024 CHINA & RUSSIA MOST OF NATO AND ISRAEL will be fielding F35 for 5 years.

INDIA WILL BE ALSO BE $20 BILLION OUT OF POCKET hence even more delays for a fifth gen PAK FA

My guess is that the Russian and Chinese 5th generation planes will be delayed. I won't hold my breath for F-35 either. So getting proven planes and technology is a goood way to go. Sometimes, its easy can get too caught up with what will happen in the future and forget about what is available currently. Even US cap F22 at a low limit so there should be a lot of rooms for planes like MMRCA in the future.

development of PAK FA is nothing to do with MMRCA......
the purpose of MMRCA is to replace our 20-30 year old fighters with latest and most available fighters that has the capability for serving till 2040
