New Delhi: A die-hard fan of Shahid Afridi has been arrested for wearing Pakistan team jersey during a cricket match in Hailakandi in Assam.

According to reports, the youth, Ripon Chowdhury was apprehended by local police following a complaint filed by the youth wing of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

Reports claimed that a FIR was also filed against him under section 120 (B), 294 of the Indian Penal Code.

The Assam News reported that the local Bhartiya Yuva Morcha committee had lodged the FIR against the youth, saying he had indulged in an anti-national act. And he was arrested on Saturday.

It's worth noting that in a similar incident, early this year in February, a Pakistani fan of Virat Kohli was initially sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment.
Umer Daraz, from his house on January 25 in a village about 200 kilometres from Lahore for hoisting an Indian flag on the rooftop of his house.

"I am a big fan of Virat Kohli. I support the Indian team because of Kohli. Hoisting of Indian flag on the rooftop of my house only shows my love for the Indian cricketer," Daraz had reportedly told.
He was later released on bail.

. .
If I was Shahid Afridi i would pay for his legal fees.

Poor chap. His only crime was being born into a hate driven racist country.

Crazy kid..It could have been resonable if he would have been fan of Pace Bowler like Wahab Riaz or Ameer??? Shahid Afridi is just over hyped player in Pakistan...Better players like Hafeez, Ameer, Wahab are better choiced...

Anyway, it is wrong to arrest some one...Man ..I like all of the Pakistan pace bowlers...Big fan of them bowling in Australia or England pitches.

.
And here comes the Indian brigade trying to defend this action and defame Pakistan.
