Kion? Is the thread against your specific beliefs - or does it hurt interests of 'your' people? :D

I simply love the way you deliver your stealth-chappals! :D

One day, when I enter politics, I need you on my media team......... :P

bas ker bhai , kyun Patakh raha hai bechare ki

For me the battle cry of Ya Ali is a way to remember the bravery and steadfastness of Imam Ali when the hour arrives. It is not same as asking help. Sure we all pray to and ask help from Allah Almighty only. Saying Ya Ali is just a quick remembrance of moral and virtues of the great man to strengthen the resolve. I do not know how people make this an issue of subversion of the monotheism.

I agreet tbh. Im a sunni but still I dont really see the battle cry of Ya Ali as asking Ali for his personal help but rather to inspire in the fighters the same noble and fighting spirit that Ali (RA) would have in battle. A reminder sort of.

Lets put it this way, we Shia and Barelvi constitute about 75% of the soldiers in the Forces, we will continue to use it, because following Imam Ali is an integral part of our faith.

Are you sure no they don't

I enjoy his statements miserably hilarious

but he made good points ... for once remove the Burqa of Religion from your face and think ...
Religion is not just for Killing , battles , oppression , differences , Religion is also about peace , love , care , brotherhood , freedom of speech , tolerance , and etc ..

on Topic ... PA has a lot of Shia's in active duty , for them they have to include this " Narae haidry " etc ...
but if you go for Standard , i would prefer , Allah Ho Akber ...
this include Hindu , Christians as well.

there are other things as " Our Part of Faith " i am sure you do care for them as well

Why is this such an important issue ? :undecided:

So far as I know (and I have no reason to believe otherwise) - The Army does not discriminate against anyone on the basis of religion, sect or ethnicity; an admirable thing in a country where most other institutions don't always measure up to the high standards we expect them to.

On a side note I do recall listening to a talk-show where one of the journalists mentioned that during Zia's time the Saudis has requested a contingent comprising only of Sunnis and the Army rejected that offer. I do recall another person in the same show corroborating that and none discrediting this piece of information.

Maybe Zia isn't the demon we make him out to be....maybe the demon is misgovernance, apathy and a culture of 'yeh tou Pakistan hai...yahan hotaa hiii yeh hai' statements being made to rationalize all our own personal wrong-doings !

To give credit to Zia - he was the one that refused, he said this is the "Pakistani Armed Forces" and all Pakistanis will serve it.

I absolutely agree with all this. As for being 'evolved' enough,we don't need to 'evolve' in a way to abandon our religion or stop taking it seriously. We just need to evolve enough to tolerate differences of opinion. That will improve eventually. Let's not forget that European Protestants and Catholics were killing eachother and burning witches not so long ago. As people got educated, that changed.
To clarify, by evolution I'm not calling for an 'abandonment' of faith, but the realization that they way Pakistan is setup currently results in an 'imposition' of faith - if you don't meet X religious criteria you can't be PM, President or even call yourself Muslim or your place of worship whatever the hell you want. Its absolutely disgusting seeing the media refer to Ahmadi mosques as 'Ahmadi places of worship'.

Religion has gone from being a guide for becoming a 'good individual' to becoming a means of passing judgement over everyone and using the State to control everyone to align with our religious beliefs.
Their hypocrisy never stops showing, from enforcing Burkas while dealing drugs and preaching the Quran while regularly and constantly disobeying it (e.g: there is no compulsion in religion, as per the Quran.). Political Mullahs are world-class hypocrites.
Spot on!

Many such incidents happened, however, that particular incident was not in Zia's time, it was during Gulf War and the forces were already deployed there.......... I know the whole event, it happened while I was there......... in the end The Yanks who interfered and gave a warning to the Saudi's "It's either the Pakistani's or Israeli's who know how to operate your equipment, so you choose"....

Someone gave you half of the information........

where one of the journalists mentioned that during Zia's time the Saudis has requested a contingent comprising only of Sunnis and the Army rejected that offer. I do recall another person in the same show corroborating that and none discrediting this piece of information.

Two such incidents happened during the two Gulf Wars......... I don't recall any such incident during reign of Zia.......

To give credit to Zia - he was the one that refused, he said this is the "Pakistani Armed Forces" and all Pakistanis will serve it.

Why do you care what war cry the Shia and Barelvi use?

If 'Ya Ali' gets their adrenaline pumping and minds focused on the challenge ahead, then by all means they should use it.

I think I saw a clip of some South Indian actor in a movie yelling 'Ya Ali' before he jumped into the middle of a bad guy camp and kicked, punched, karate chopped and shot dead about a million bad guys, so apparently this war cry is quite effective.
