Russia and China on Monday vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution that would have demanded a seven-day truce in Syria's Aleppo, with Russia arguing it would allow rebels to regroup and that time was needed for talks between Washington and Moscow.

It was the sixth time Russia has vetoed a Security Council resolution on Syria since the conflict started in 2011 and the fifth time China has blocked action. Venezuela also voted against the text - drafted by New Zealand, Egypt and Spain - while Angola abstained. The remaining 11 states voted in favor.

"These kinds of pauses have been used by fighters to reinforce their ammunition and to strengthen their positions and this will only worsen the suffering of civilians," Russian U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said of the proposed seven-day truce.

Truce: (noun)
1. A waiting period, sanctioned by jihadist-backers, designed to bide insurgents time to regroup and reinforce amid the onslaught by the SAA.

Nicely played, and even more nicely rejected. ;)

I'm all in for Russia vetoing everything "let them capitalist, fascists have it", "it wasn't us...".. however five permanent members with super 'veto' rights, doing anything as they please.. makes for a very dumb system, or did I oversleep and China, France, Russia, US, UK are the only countries left on the Planet?

Asking for some country to let their foe resupply and rest for a couple days in the middle of a 'war', is something to be laughed at... then again, we've probably been looking at the opening moments of WW3, the last 3-5 years.

Good going Russia and China!

The so-called truce was going to give the required breathing space for the terrorists. They betrayed a truce before, no need to repeat the same failing model.

Russia will likely increase the pressure on terrorists of every color, be them supported by Qatar, Turkey or US.

Time is running out for especially the FSA foreign terrorists that work in tandem with foreign governments in Syria's sovereign lands.

Couldn't say it any better.

The timing of the proposed "truce" is so funny, right around the time that those terroists are about being totally wiped out while the Syrian civil war has been waging for years. Don't try to fool people with such a sweet word like "truce or peace" . We all know what's behind this. The war now is towards the end and Syrian people are about to enjoy permanent peace, whoever tries to stop this process now is the evil mind which wants this war to go on forever.

This truce was going to be as genuine as the so called White Helmets, a.k.a, terrorist donned in a white uniform on the back and metal cap on the head.

Fallujah then and Mosul now. And many other cities in between. When USA and its allies are bombing hell out of countries, no one even bothers to count human catastrophe.

All of the sudden, world's conscience and morality wakes up when terrorists funded by Americans and their allies to further their geopolitical interests, are at the receiving end.

Does someone remember Vietnam? Does some one remember spraying of agent orange the defoliant? These are all living atrocities committed by a country aided by its allies, who are crying hoarse for Aleppo.

Syria is doing the right thing. Assad is a legitimate president. He has every right to defend his country and get rid of foreign funded terrorists.
