The UK has became the 51st state of the US with no independent foreign and economic policies even California has its own economic and social policies. The UK would follow blindly the US even if this is against its own interest. The UK is gradually being pulled outside the EU by France and Germany. Its better for the UK to send its police forces in London suburd in view of preventing another riots, looting, fire and mass protest which had erupted in July/August 2011.

It depends on where the fight happen . to be honest Iran army projection power is nearly nil
but when it come to operating near Iran it can be quiet a headache for the aggressor

when it come to defense I doubt if Iran want to sink all the ship that uk have in persian gulf
then the English can do any thing about it . Iran can hit them with Persian gulf ballistic missile
at the same time we can throw as many as we like of Anti Ship cruise missiles from shore
batteries at them we also can use our fast boat to fire Kowsar missiles from 20-30 mile away
at them (the missile is weak only 20-30 kg warhead but when used in number they can be
Ugly)also we can use those boats and our midget subs to fire Hoot Torpedo at them which
have a speed more than 250 km/h and a range of 10 miles. and don't forget from the weapon
Iran got from China you can find Some EM-52 Mine.

You see in persian gulf we have the advantage . but let say we want to confront them in Indian Ocean
then we loose the use of those fast boats and shore batteries . what remain is several Frigate and 3
Kilo class subs .to be honest it would be a fight that I prefer avoid no matter what the cost is .

Its only indians are seeing NATO as a seperate nations entity....Others have some different views about them...U.S never strikes alone in their current war case scenario So if one would be defeated will called the defeat of allied forces....But i expect you'll bring some extra knowledge based on your local views

EXACTLY!!

Hypothetically speaking - lets say hostilities break out and the HMS Daring gets damaged or worse is sunk (to keep things simple lets ignore for a minute what the US fleet is up to) Given the fact that this is no Iraq, and the defender usually has an upper hand against the attacker, the political repercussions in the UK would be very serious.

Given the fact that no WMD's were found in Iraq, the govt would have a very tough time selling another WMD BS to its people!

I agree with you, but since it isnt the war (yet), there is a 3rd possibility - its just a show "look at us being all tough! " and moral support for US "mission", nothing more.
