Pakistan will launch a two-seater version of JF-17 - Induction of JF-17B in 2017

French engine, avionics and missiles looks great but will double the cost. Then it will become more difficult to sell it.

Looking at how threads talking of possible interaction between France and Pakistan run and where they end, France should seek permission of India and Indian members on this forum before talking to Pakistan. :)

They are supa dupa pawa with galactic influence. France definitely needs perms from Incredible India...

Since Pakistan is looking to use an engine also used by French RAFAEL, that becomes less tan desirable for Indians automatically. Wait and see them talk of smoke, it being underpowered and 60s teach.

P A building a twin seater ___ yes. Uprated engine-- possible on grounds of one being available. M 88 highly unlikely unless a sino-french deal has taken off behind the scene. Even then it is hogwash given they want to display the plane at Farnborough this year. A different engine would mean testing and money both of which are not possible in the time frame being projected. Also it would be a really bad idea to change what is currently working. I would take this with a pinch of salt.

2 seater is a must for exports.I have stated that before couple of times.

I don't see any change in plan. It's all just a hocus pocus and nothing much. What more could happen is an Uprated version of RD-93 with some 100 or 105 Kn engine or a new WS-13 which is 100 Kn if it covers up all technical issues its facing as of now because it's seems to have better performance as its a hybrid of Turbo Fan and Turbo Jet similar to F-414G. It definitely not as matured as RD-93 but still has new goodies like FADEC. As we have read it previously in ZDK-03 thread that AC Tanveer was not happy with the decision of Gen. P-Mush but later he said the product turned out to be unexpectedly good. So we must kept our fingers crossed and see what happens.

About 2 seater it will be for international customers may be acquired in numbers by PAF. And about Avionics we are pretty happy with what we already have in it and it's pretty matured. If French offers something we may choose some of the goodies not the whole bunch of it. But if customers like SA or others may ask for European systems then it could be integrated with this system.

Two seater JF-17 to appear first time in a French air show. There is more likelihood of it being equipped with French engine than not.

There seems to be confusion over the engine choice of the Chinese-Pakistan jointly manufactured JF-17 fighter aircraft.

A report in Want China Times on Tuesday quoting a Moscow based publication states that the JF-17 Thunder aircraft is likely to be equipped with Snecma’s M88-2 engine. M88-2 currently powers Rafale twin-engine fighter designed by Dassault for the French Air Force.

However earlier reports by a Pakistani newspaper, Express Tribune reported that Pakistan will be importing engines from Russia directly following an NOC from China. Currently, the fighter is equipped with Russian origin engines.

“Pakistan was importing engines via China earlier. China has recently issued a no objection certificate (NOC) to Pakistan. Both the nations were earlier producing the fighter as a joint venture,” The Express Tribune Daily had reported 14 February.

“The Chinese NOC now allows Pakistan to import fighter jet engines from Russia directly,” the source said. “This will not only reduce the cost of production of the fighter jet but will also lead to enhanced defense cooperation between Russia and Pakistan,” the newspaper had quoted unnamed sources.

China and Pakistan plan to display a two-seater version of FC-1 Xiaolong multirole fighter aircraft during the Paris Air Show held from June 15-21 this year. FC-1 is also known as JF-17 Thunder, Want China Times reported earlier.

Confusion Over Pakistan-Chinese JF-17 Fighter's Engine Selection

These rumors are related to the India's selection of French or Russian fighters. Both sides are playing on Indian fears that the losing bidder will supply weapons and engines to Pakistan.

Rd-93 with single seat and plans fir European ( French) counterpart on duel seat to make it fuel efficient... for now no plans to mess up engine things with single seater currently in production...
