So we have 3 options-

1- Old F-16.
2- Rafale
3- Su-35

One is single engine low medium weight, other is single engine medium weight and last is dual engine heavy weight. Who made this list of choices? Did they even consider the role of fighter they are looking for ? Or its just a hogwash for fanboys to later claim that we evaluate Rafale and Su-35 but then we went for old F-16. Window shopping?

And why China was excluded?

There are no ther options other than the older 16s due to resource constraint. Ilove the SU35 but it wont come to the PAF and neither will the Typhoon. Fanboys will be fanboys but the reality is we can only afford this for the time being.
No one has excluded the Chinese. We are waiting for them to have a product ready for us to test.

For Pakistan to buy as per the article.

I don't buy the logic. All differ in class, that's not how professional air forces around the world operates and especially PAF with a cash crunch. They knew exactly what they want.

The article is giving a sense of political one-upmanship.

You both are almost correct, that's why I don't see much value in article or say comment from Defence Secretary.

Perhaps he is trying to assure masses that they have many options on the table, though its not very true at the moment. But I will give it to him for that.

Beef up current fleet with MLU upgrades. No need to build new infrastructure and or crew training.

sir you don't understand first its price its not a cheap plane 80 mil plus plane, if you somehow purchase this plane you need build a infrastructure for those plane plus maintenance even for MIG-35, it is wise to invest in J-10c or J-10D which is quite similar to F-16 or go dircetly go for J-31



and you also forget the indian factor

Sir this infrastructure argument is just an excuse....Tell me one thing..aren't other countries procuring new platforms...e.g India...they are procuring Rafaels..so don't you think they will have to build that infrastructure to induct these planes...the rest of world is going for F35..don't they have to build it...
If we want to indct new planes then we have to build this structure...otherwise...the entire world will move to 5th to 6th generation plane ..let's say in next 100 yrs...and we will be still inducting F16s bcoz we don't want to build new infrastructure..that's just a baloney..utter nonsense
If we want to induct F31 in future..still we have to build infra...for it..or we should accept that F16 is the ultimate plane and we don't need any other platform in this world
