Salty rumors: Pakistan to buy Mirage - 2000 fighter jets from a friendly country

Depends upon France
It is and will be NO.
The weapons deals future of France in the area is India.
And more specially just before a french Pres. visit in India very soon, a potential 2nd Rafale batch for IAF and some Rafale M for Indian Marine....

Yes.
The news is true. Qatar has very good relationship with Pakistan and France.
Qatar is buying several latest arms from France. Qatar ask France to sell old arms and Mirag-2000 and France allowed it to sell to any country without objection. During agreement , Qatar want to sell those old Mir-2000 to Pakistan on lower price. PAF agreed because Mir-2000 is eqevalent to Rafale except some new items like Radar and missiles. PAF can update those items to fight against Rafale from neighbour.
NO COMMENT PLEASE ON MY THIS POST.
NO.
Qatar Mirage 2000 are among the older of the -5 model. Less potent than UAE Mirage 2000 (-9 !), themselves less potent than Rafale (range, load, agility, Electronic support, AESA, Meteor, optronic, stealth). The only better spec of M2000 is max speed and maybe max ceilling.

.
J10C will fill more of an air superiority role compared to the Mirage 2000 (if acquired, highly doubtful it will be) which would most likely form a strike fighter role similar to the current fleet of mirages in Pakistan's service

It's highly doubtful that PAF go for M2Ks due to several reasons but for sake of discussion, if PAF went for M2Ks then Meteor & IRIS-T AAMs and something in class of storm shadow should be priority to get with them, as those weapons will make them potent platform in NCW environment.

.
The best window to buy into the M2K series was in the early 1980s.

This was when the French were fully invested in the program while also hoping to recover as much ground from the F-16 in the world market. Iraq had a pretty good roadmap of buying a large number of M2Ks and, over time, manufacturing them locally (albeit with significant French industrial assistance). If not for the F-16, the PAF likely would've ordered M2Ks back in 1981.

As the Rafale program began dawning through the late 1980s and early 1990s, the M2K series just wasn't benefitting from as much industrial support. The upfront costs and lifecycle costs were going up. It started becoming difficult to maintain in the 2000s, especially once the production run ended.

. .
If it is months ago, then it should be Indonesia. We are supposed to get this jet, even it has been approved by Finance Minister, but last minutes about several weeks ago France bans the sell (afraid of getting much less Rafale order from Indonesia that currently only order 6 planes).

Indonesia needs stop gap Fighters. Not UAE though, but Qatar.
Maybe. It might have been Indonesia. I had mentioned this in another thread back then,I don't remember where.

Got warning from .......

Even if it does, what good will it do when country is almost bankrupt? Pakistanis like to celebrate the most useless shit.
Hi,

Young child---weapons and their usage have nothing to do if you are broke as a person or as a nation---.

All it has to do is to follow the sunnah of Prophet Mohammad---.

Starving though he was on the day of his death---yet there were 8 swords hanging on the wall of his room.

Weapons are jewels for a man who wants to live free---.

Poverty comes & poverty goes---.

Very true but you need to eat to live another day and fight, and fuel for fighter jets doesn't come cheap.

Weapons prevent you from physical slavery, economy and self-reliance prevents non-physical forms of slavery

Agreed. Just look at the deal to buy, not locally manufacture, but outright buy 500 Airbus’ by Air India for $100 Billion.

The country, IMHO, that would probably be the mostly likely buyer of 3-4 Squadrons of Mirages (combined from the UAE and Qatar) is Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has been looking around, and a modest upgrade to these jets would have them match if not exceed Myanmar’s capabilities as well as be interoperable with the Indians.

For Pakistan, if it mends it’s relations with the US to be able to buy even used F-16s it would be better then acquiring a platform it doesn’t have the support infrastructure in place to support. Upgrading and overhauling the current fleet to the Viper standard (or even Turkish equivalent if the V upgrade is not going to get cleared by congress) as well as procuring a few dozen more airframes is what the PAF would probably hope for.

If the PAF was being gifted these planes at friendship prices or in exchange for protecting the World Cup in Qatar, then it’s a completely different story.
