Why doesn't Pakistan have any major domestic car and motorcycle producers?

Ban that silly Mehran. It looks horrible in today's world. Aren't there International Standards for a car's looks as well as unnecessary emission regulations?
BTW -> cars in Pakistan are expensive because of over-blown import duties.

Very costly cars in Pakistan compared to other countries. No competition:hitwall::hitwall:

Car Prices in Pakistan depends on the value of the rupee not MFG fault.

You no that Thing called Aids now you no the reason why its given to Pakistani politicians.

Actually, it is quite comparable to the bangladeshi market. If you notice bangladeshis are perhaps the only people in the world talking about the "merits" or their glorious "reconditioned Toyota corrollas" .

Indian automobile manufacturers must be seriously considered. Last i heard--there are no "Chinese car fans" in Pakistan (Not considering the fact that they are rolling death traps).

The industry is dominated by the monopolistic 'big three' (Pak Suzuki, Atlas Honda and Indus Motors) which has placed very high barriers to entry...and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

we should look for indigenous cars ,it would be the best solution ......

What :woot:

1. That's out of question there is no company in pakistan with so much capability, facility and money to do it.

And it takes decades of R&D to create something worthwhile.

2. There is a short cut called takeover to take the jump to escape R&D task but there is no company in pakistan which have such money. Like in India Tata have purchased British Jaguar & Land Rover while Mahindra have purchased South Korean Ssangyong Motors.

3. There are enough products and companies all over the world to do that and that too in the budget of the targeted customers.

when we will see influx of chinese cars ?

When u will decides to destroy ur industry, compromise on quality and taste.

When u will decides to destroy ur industry, compromise on quality and taste.

So you second those poor Pakistani businessmen who are encouraging Pak government not to go for trade agreement with India by giving MFN status? Since act like this can compromise quality and taste, right?

On topic: I am done with these low quality expensive cars made by Pak suzuki and Indus motors, I want their monopoly be ceased.

You are wrong buddy, lets say your government surrendered to those companies..... even India started Initial steps with Joint ventures like Hero-honda and now hero became Independent company and one of the biggest two wheeler company in India, leaving honda far behind in terms of sales..... and Tata, bajaj, Mahindra etc.... we got good Indigenous auto mobile Industry.... and we are happy with it.... toyota, honda, etc are competing with our auto mobile industry... and coming with new vehicles according to our interest.....

Under the pretext of EuroII compliance, Pak Suzuki will stop producing alto 1000 from June 2012 and will instead supply the market with Suzuki Mehran only. Since Daihatsu Coure is also being discontinued, the next best car after Suzuki Mehran in this category will become Suzuki Cultus: Compliance with Euro-II emission standards
WTF Suzuki Mehran Also Has Carburetor so how this damn this fits in Euro2 Compliance Instead of Alto they Should have Stopped Making Mehran fuking Piece Of Shitttt Load and Crap.
