PAF Jets start pounding terrorists hideouts in N.Waziristan.

Air strikes pave the way for a ground offensive...its time to smash these bastards.

Besides this, now there should be no let up till the objectives are achieved.

Such actions must not happen only after a strike by the Taliban but as an intent of creating and maintaining such pressure that they seek terms of surrender.

If not, then such strikes will led to similar results as the ISAF strikes in Af - they will regroup, resurface and get more recruits.

Not too sure.. If at all, it will increase the support for terrorists.. Just the same logic Pakistani members use against the drone strikes...
Drones and TTP are two different things. In my opinion now most of the Pakistanis are against TTP, a minority remains their well wishers, They will also diminish because of their own doings. Their own people are now fleeing from the flock.

well.....aftr readin wht pakposters wrote,,seems this was neccesary,,,...
bt it wud b iteresting to see d reaction of d local ppl of NW.....

Inshah Allah..

point to ponder :
what are ''innocent civilians'' doing in the same house/bed with a terrorist. :coffee:

More then 30 Rats Send to hell , more will be following them Soon , it seems Army is loosing its patience with the pathetic impotent government . and has now decided to take matters in its own Hand , not a Good sign for Ganja brothers .

Fighter jets bomb militant hideouts in North Waziristan after Taliban attacks – The Express Tribune

Residents of North Waziristan, a lawless mountainous region where many al Qaeda-linked militants are based, said there were numerous civilian casualties (Your rats) but the army was not immediately available to comment on the operation.

“Can you hear the noise of the gunships? They are just over our heads,” Haji Jamaludin, a local resident, told Reuters by telephone from the area. “Everyone in the village is running around with children and women looking for a safe place to hide.”

The air strikes took place as pressure grows on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take tougher action against the Taliban following the attacks.

The Pakistani Taliban are fighting to topple the central government in Islamabad and impose strict Islamic rule in the nuclear armed South Asian nation.

“We strongly condemn this cowardly act which they (Pakistan army) carried out under cover of darkness, targeting sleeping people,” said Pakistan Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid.

“If you people target innocent people in their homes, we will target you in your homes in Islamabad too,” he added.

Pakistani forces initiate dialogue with terrorists; in the language they understand and use

After Sunday attack on security forces’ convoy in Bannu and RA Bazar Attack on Monday on a check post in Rawalpindi, the army has launched a retaliatory operation in North Waziristan area. According to reports, PAF fighter jets used to bomb Taliban hideouts in a tribal area on the Afghan border on Tuesday killing at least 15 people. Terrorists claim the number to be around 25 as they allege that civilians (non-combatants) were also killed.

It seems that the government of Nawaz Sharif was under immense pressure from the people and political parties, barring an insignificant section of pro-terrorists politicos, to act. The army seems to have received a go-ahead signal from the government after talks offer failed. The terrorists have traditionally been responding to talk offers in the language of bombs and bullets. The retaliation is reported to be fierce, targeted, swift and to some extent, ruthless.

And the retaliation is in the language that the terrorists understand and use.

There is going to be a lot of hue and cry from the religious parties including that of Imran Khan, playboy-turned-philanthropist-turned-politician whose party is ruling the province of KPK in coalition with JI. JI is one of the parties of the religious alliance which ruled the province from 2002 to 2008 and provided space to terrorists by design. The terrorists returned the favor by providing full protection to these parties in May, 2011 general elections paving way for Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan and JI to return to power.

According to Reuters, it was the first time the air force has resorted to aerial strikes in the volatile region since it struck a ceasefire agreement with local Taliban chiefs in 2007. Aerial strikes also took place in the nearby tribal region of Kurram. Though the operation was unannounced, there were indications that it would be underway anytime when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cancelled his Switzerland trip on Sunday and announced on Monday in his cabinet meeting that the situation was extraordinary and would be tackled with extraordinary measures.

Army conducted successful operations in 2009 to wrest Swat and South Waziristan back from terrorists. It was, however, reluctant to enter North Waziristan, the last of the safe havens of terrorists because Afghan Taliban’s Haqqani Group, which never fought against Pakistan has also holed up in this agency.

You don't fuc$*in secure the porous Pak Afghan boarder and than you wish to take out terrorists by pounding the so called hide outs. Since when did we adopted the american way of taking out targets by use of brutal force? I use the word brutal because when you strike from a jet, no matter how precise you are, it will always result in civilian causalities. Americans are far from home, its not their people, they can enjoy this luxury while in our case its the exact opposite. TTP easily come and go as they please with the blessing of Afghans and the US, while we are pounding God knows what.
If we really need to pound something why not pound those hide outs inside Afghanistan. Let the world know our resolve of eliminating threats that are detrimental to the security of Pakistan.

I hear you.. and appreciate the challenges.. But looking objectively, this translates to sacrificing civilians to keep the morale of the troops high.. Seems counter intuitive to me since the troops are meant to protect the civilians (and Pakistani territory ) as their core responsibility...

Army is tool a to protect and it's up to govt. how they want to utilize it, at the moment they are looking for dialog. Any operation without political backing is disaster.

Me think... no operation can be successful as long Zardari appointed people are in civil setup.
We need to fully dissolve interior ministry, foreign office and judiciary before hoping for success.
It is the same terrorists army fighting again and again, it is stupid to take up arms without having legal support/backup.
Once legal support in place, nominate judiciary and ImRAWn Khan in FIR on all attacks as first thing, this will shake the Indian implants in our civil and political setup and than go in hot pursuit... bomb Kabul to dust and trust me all terrorists will disappear as horns from donkey's head.
If I'm army chief, i'll refuse to bomb if a single news paper will post falsification and judiciary does not tackle the issue and unfortunately this is exactly what happened in the current case and soon we'll see ImRAWn Khan leading another long march.

Good to see you're still stuck in your narrow political mindset. It's always a pleasure talking to you, even after a few months. Lets me know that not much has changed, which is a comforting thought.
