PAF Jets start pounding terrorists hideouts in N.Waziristan.

Pakistani jets strike Waziristan tribal areas

Air force bombards tribal areas after a series of attacks left dozens of Pakistan soldiers dead and injured.

Pakistani fighter jets have launched an assault on tribal areas near the Afghan border in an operation against Taliban fighters, flattening several houses and sending villagers fleeing from their homes, military sources and local residents have said.

Residents of North Waziristan, where many al Qaeda-linked groups are based, said there were numerous civilian casualties.

A military spokesman told Al Jazeera sources that 15 fighters had been killed in the onslaught. The military said those killed were linked to bombings in a bazaar and a church as well as Sunday's attack in Bannu that killed 20 soldiers.

Tuesday's air strikes took place as domestic pressure grew on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take tougher action against the Pakistani Taliban, following a string of attacks against security forces across Pakistan in the past week.

The attack on the Pakistani army convoy on Sunday, prompted Sharif to cancel his trip to the World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort of Davos, and sparked speculation that a military operation was imminent.

In a second attack, on Monday a man on a motorcycle detonated his device at an army checkpoint in Rawalpindi. At least 13 people died in the explosion.

"This hadn't been planned before, and Pakistan air force fighter jets were called to hit hideouts of the militants involved in attacks on security forces," said one military official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Tribal elder Malik Jan Mohammad in the Mir Ali area told Reuters news agency that 15 people were killed, while a Taliban source put the death toll at 27, including civilians.

Taliban hideouts

Military sources said fighter jets were only targeting hideouts of fighters in the area. Residents said the bombardment started overnight without any warning.

"We were all asleep when the planes started bombing the village," said Khyal Zaman, a tribesman from Esori village in the Mir Ali area.

"We had no idea what happened in the dark and those who survived came out of their homes in desperation along with children and started walking away into the open."

The assault comes after two attacks in two days claimed the lives of more than 30 people, many of them soldiers.

What do you know about Lal Masjid, mere media projection?
The Lal masjid operation pissed off lots of people in tribal regions, which led to the creation of TTP. Until that moment, pakistan was playing both sides of the game in WOT, not antagonising the Taliban on east side of the durrand line. The origins of the suicide attacks inside Pakistan can be traced to that time period..
There is a reason why India never used air force in Kashmir, even at the hight of militancy. The only time IAF used in Kashmir was during the Kargil war against the Pakistani intruders.

TTP commander Adnan Rasheed believed dead

PESHAWAR: Most-wanted commander of the Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Adnan Rasheed is believed to have died in counter offensive launched by the security forces.

Official sources have confirmed said that Rasheed died as a result of bombing by jet fighters at his house in Miranshah, North Waziristan. They said he died in overnight bombing in the area.

However, there is no official confirmation from the military while TTP has also not confirmed reports about this death.

Four relatives of Rasheed are also reported to have died in that incident.

If they killed 11 in a day they will grow 100 times in a day..so what is benefit to kill them...let them to go hell together...

The hide out is inside Pakistan.

I disagree sir, a case in point Mullah FM. Where was he all this time before becoming the ameer of TTP.

We have our fair share of terrorists but to say that Afghanistan does not shelter anti Pakistan elements when history proves other wise is naive.

This is the only way to Negotiate with them , some people understand Words , other understand Bullets .

fucking pieces of shits only attack these pigs when there is a big attack on the army, while dozens of civilians die everyday and they don't do shit

It is beyond doubt that the kind of operation Talibans are doing in Pakistan cannot be possible by themselves. There must be external support for sure. Possibilities-
1. CIA
2. Saudi Interests
3. Mosad
4. Afgan Intel
5. Iran Intel
6. Raw.
7. Powerful Lobby within Pakistan
I kept Raw in the bottom. I do not believe that RAW can execute operations so precisely and so professionally.
When insurgency was in its peak in India , we clearly identified ISI as source explicitly in openly. We handled it accordingly.
Pakistan is burning, but officially the source is not identified. This is surprising. This silence is unacceptable. Why Pakistani establishment is silent. Any idea?

Why isn't burraq used? political thingy!

Actually drone attacks by PA will have less political implications because you hit them with an ATGM and you would precisely destroy a house full of militants but if you drop a 500 pound bomb from an F-16 you would blow up the whole neighbourhood along with the militants. Limit the collateral damage and use drones.

The series of attacks inside Pakistan in recent times prove that the terrorists are fully focused on pushing their criminal agenda forward. They are not leaving any stone unturned in their bid to spread fear and chaos, and they are targeting anyone who stands in their way. The U.S. and Pakistan share a common stance against terrorism, and the proof lies in the fact that we’ve lost thousands of brave soldiers fighting terrorism. We wish to see peace prevail throughout the region, and fully support the government of Pakistan in their efforts to counter terrorism. We’ve come too far and made too many sacrifices to let these terrorists succeed in their mission. The seriousness of the situation requires us to remain unified and send a stern message to those who pose a threat to the safety of our nations.

2 childrens aswell

1.) This is highly objectionable, pakistan claims US drone strikes kills innocents with the culprit and there are many casualty of innocents.

2.) Why use fighter jets on your own people?

3.) Using fighter jets makes the work of terrorists easy as they will pose as a victim of suppression and will get many recruits.

4.) It also undermines the pak army that it can't do anything hence PAF is to be called.

5.) Use army and kill all terrorists good or bad or ugly taliban or strategic assets after all terrorists are terrorists.

PESHAWAR: Pakistani fighter jets pounded several suspected militant hideouts in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan agency early Tuesday, killing up to 40 people and injuring several others, military sources and residents said.

The airstrikes took place as domestic pressure grew on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take tougher action against Taliban militants following a string of attacks across the country in the past week.

“This hadn't been planned before, and Pakistan Air Force jets were called to hit hideouts of the militants involved in attacks on security forces,” said one military official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

There was no official word on casualties and residents gave different numbers.

Pakistani military sources put the death toll at 40, all of them suspected to be militants. Tribal elders said between 15 and 24 people were killed. A Taliban source put the death toll at 27.

Military sources said fighter jets were only targeting militant hideouts. Residents said the bombardment started overnight without any warning.

“We were all asleep when the planes started bombing the village,” said Khyal Zaman, a tribesman from Esori village in Mir Ali. “We had no idea what happened in the dark and those who survived came out of their homes in desperation along with children and started walking away into the open.”

According to a report by a foreign news agency, among the targets was the home of Adnan Rasheed, one of the most wanted militant commanders of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Taliban and military sources told AFP that his house was hit but Rasheed himself was later seen alive in the marketplace of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan.

The army was not immediately available for a comment.

Fear and panic gripped the areas struck by the overnight blitz which flattened several houses, following which gunship helicopters conducted fresh strikes in the morning causing locals to flee the volatile area for safer places, according to a DawnNews report.

The localities where the military strikes were conducted included Hamzoni village, Mohammadkhel village of Dattakhel tehsil in North Waziristan, Shera Tala area, Harmaz village, Moski village and other areas of North Waziristan.

Sources said those wounded in the attacks could not be shifted to hospitals for treatment due to a curfew imposed in the area.

North Waziristan is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) governed by tribal laws. An extremist insurgency led by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) plagues the region and the area is known to be infested with militants, including those from Al Qaeda and other armed extremist organisations.

The region, which lies along the Pak-Afghan border, also comes under attacks from US drones frequently which target militant hideouts in the area.
