This thread is dedicated to obsolete weapons systems across the board..Let it be naval, air force or land based you would like to be revived.
There have been marvelous and ingenious military hardware produced and shelved for various reasons,as far back as during WW II which are worthy of competing with modern weapons or called the predecessors of some of the most cutting edge military tech of today.
This thread is intended to be a knowledge base,so please avoid one liners or just a link..Please comment with substantial information about obsolete weapon of your choice.

A country like Pakistan which has yet to build an indigenous helicopter should look into this ancient design which is versatile robust and cost effective.

Probably the forefather of V-22 osprey and even CH-47 Chinook.

The Focke-Achgelis Fa 223 Drache ("Dragon" in English) was a helicopter developed by Germany during World War II. A single 750 kilowatt (1,000 horsepower) Bramo 323 radial engine powered two three-bladed 11.9 meter (39 feet) rotors mounted on twin booms on either side of the 12.2 meter (40 ft) long cylindrical fuselage. Although the Fa 223 is noted for being the first helicopter to attain production status, Nazi production of the helicopter was hampered by Allied bombing of the factory and only 20 were built.

The Fa 223 could cruise at 175 kilometres per hour (109 mph) with a top speed of 182 km/h (113 mph), and climb to an altitude of 7,100 m (23,300 ft). The Drache could transport cargo loads of over 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) at cruising speeds of 121 km/h (75 mph) and altitudes approaching 2,440 m (8,010 ft)

.....

also Nazi incendiary bombs.....they used to tie the bombs with hot air baloons, sent them to upper atmosphere..stream of air/winds in upper atmosphere used to carry it to other part of the world where it used to fell and explode..

huge potential for countries having nuclear bombs but no intercontinental ballistik missile.

Project HARP (not to be confused with HAARP)

The abandoned GUN

Canadian engineer Gerald Bull figured out a cheaper way to launch payloads in to space ..... yup with super cannon..... Known as the Project HARP (High Altitude Research Project).

Gerald Bull aslo worked on Saddam Hussein's Project Babylon.... the super gun which could fire a nuke.

Bull concurrently worked on the Scud project, making calculations for the new nose-cone needed for the higher re-entry speeds and temperatures the missile would face. Over a period of a few months following, his apartment suffered several non-robbery break-ins, apparently as a threat or a warning, but he continued to work on the project. In March 1990 he was assassinated, allegedly by the Mossad. One account states he was shot five times in the head and back at point blank range while approaching the door of his apartment in Brussels. Another account states he was shot by a three-man Mossad team on March 20, 1990, when he answered the doorbell.

Gerald Bull had worked for so many parties in so many critical defence projects that he became an asset and a liability for several powerful groups at the same time. It has been speculated that variously members of the Mossad, the CIA, the MI6, Chilean, Iraqi, Iran's VEVAK, or South African government were behind the assassination.

The supergun project was stopped when its parts were seized by Customs in the United Kingdom in November 1990, and most of Bull's staff returned to Canada. The smaller test gun was later broken up after the Gulf War.
