My problem with Rafale, lets start with Radar

i am sorry to say but this answer is not enough
this is a statement from u and i know u cannot provide any source as none exists

Yes, for a source check the recent SEAD campaign that the Rafale undertook- notice the lack of escort jammers...it doesn't take an Einstein to make sense of the whole affair..

I already gave you all the hint you require..ever wondered why the Rafale operate without an ASTAC pod or analogous HADF pod and without escort jammers- there in lies the answer.

As for the Mirage, what the updated mirage is meant to do is simple- be an efficient ground mover and interdictor- while the MKIs and Rafales are employed for SEAD/Precision ground strike against strategic targets and C4I nodes. The Mirage will instead hit infra, GLOCs and create general pandemonium.

can u name the equipment used in the upgrade of mirage 2000??

i know of only rdy-2 radar

not good enough
i am stickler for the source

comparisons have to be made objectively, not subjectively
mdpu stands
Here's another one- MDPU.

That was not specific enough- now I am supposed to furnish a subscription for you to the vayu mag so that you can read the details- buy a subscription on the site and the relevant article is on the main page.

u are quoting pictures??

is that a source??

comeon man

Pictures, I stated clearly that I was referring to an article.

Before which you will have to educate yourself about what a HADF/ASTAC pod does..and why the Rafale does not need one.

@he-man Before you run off I'll give you a few tidbits-

There is jamming and then there is conducting warfare across the electronic spectrum..remember that today there is a proliferation of munitions which happen to operate with a home on jam mode. Now proper EW functionality is a function of sufficient processing/transmitting power being dedicated to said suite, a robust DFRM capability, and the ability to cope with brute force through employment of brute force on its own part (radiated power)..so its one thing to have your detection range degraded (not to mention that a SPJ cannot do that to a proper high powered radar- the likes of which populate an ADGE- rather it is limited to playing around with AC FCRs and missile seekers) and another to have your screen light up with false tracks and your interceptor (SAM/BVRAAM) being unable (literally) to execute against said false tracks (that is not a pleasant experience)..add to that a sufficiently powerful EW system with the right features (EL/L-8251) and not only will said system play havoc with the enemy's ADGE (making ground intercept vectored interdiction extremely difficult) but the same system can execute high accuracy direction finding (mark said emitters with a fire grade solution) and continue to simultaneously jam multiple threats concurrently with independent directional transmissions (no SPJ or RWJ comes close)...all of this the Spectra can do (albeit to a reduced level as opposed to the 8251 but far more robustly than any RWJ- which won't even have most of these functions).

*ADGE= Air defense ground environment
*RWJ= Radar warner jammer
*SPJ= Self protection jammer
*DFRM= Digital radio frequency memory

Lets put it this way, the DOA feature on the Spectra through interferometry functions can make life very difficult for the fellow gawking away at the screen. Such dedicated EW suites or better yet proper escort jammers can really up the ante for the enemy AD- imagine multiple my computers icons on your desktop (in the high dozens) only to "open" the icon you need to direct a missile to it from a a few dozen Km away (the said missile needs the ground radar to illuminate the right target, provide track and get it close enough so that it can acquire said target with its own seeker) BUT you don't even know which one's the right icon while the enemy's ability to utilize DOA has got you marked- On the off chance that we are up against something in the class of a Ground Master-400 then a dedicated escort jamming pod can be utilized.

@Oscar yaara lots of repetitive (and inane, as in oft expressed inane views being regurgitated) posts going back and forth- need some solution.

well on any count two technologies are heading today; as an avionics. I think tomorrow wars will be of avionics and weapons rather dog fight.

the big plane like su-30 with big radar may scan big area.

For Avionics need Two things;

(1) AESA advance radar with all latest tech, like track while scan, low probablity of intercept radar, and also 360 degree radar.
(2) distributed aperture system (DAS)
distributed aperture system (DAS)
The answer of the Stealth fifth generations are DAS and capable missiles, which can be bettely attack and does not lost its target due to magnesium flares and aluminum foils(or whatsoever).

The sixth gen has one charecteristics that will be better against infrared signatures so anti infrared skin.

If LCA has this type 360 degree, all directional coverage like aesa and DAS that will be extra ordinary.

also need such DAS tech on AWACS with more better ranges.

without the AESA and DAS there will be no better possibilities.

simpli ditch the rafale and get 160 LCA with latest ASEA, EW suite, IRST & mix or INDO russian & Indo Israeli wepons & Pods + 60 SU 35 with all the latest tech & wepons package still IAF will save at least 5 Billion dollars on short and long term basis and will be much much potent option than just 126 rafales ..period

@Dillinger

Completely off topic, but do you remember the topic in which I was speaking with @sandy_3126 about some manufacturing issues related to gas turbines? I was meaning to post a reply to his comments but I can't for the life of me remember which thread it was under.
