Those anti ship weapons are still low range, but that's ok for how the Indian navy plans to operate in the Indian ocean, but for Vietnam to operate them in the south china sea, they will need long range anti ship missiles.

No country could legally supply you with a missile more than 300 Km in range and 500 Kg in Payload. You have to design them in-house.

Any updates if its true that the VPN is really planning to retire the Tarantul Class after the Molniya are completely ready en force ?

Those Tarantuls should be an excellent advance guard to any Flotilla composing of the Sigma and Gepard Class warships.

Will find out when more Molniya ships get commissioned, if they take over the HQ numbers of the Tarantuls, then it would be clear. VN hardly gives news about anything anyway.

Bro, nope. Because IN never wanted a frigate based on Kamotra structure, it going with P-17A project, and future deployment of BrahMos-2 and Barak-8 ER, which is going to be the range of 120 Km.

The hybrid model will only designed, if the VN want that. The 2 RBU-6000 will be removed and 8 cell VLS can be added in that space.

Right now i can't find any picture of this hybrid in the internet.But one thing is clear the frigate that'll be offered to V.P.N. will definitely be a Kamorta/OPV hybrid and it'll be significantly larger than the 105 m OPV model developed by GRSE having a far more deadlier weapons package and a world class electronic suite and an AESA radar most probably of Israeli origin.I heard this from an ex Indian Navy officer in another Indian forum.

Phalanx + RAM are effective deterents, especially if deploying a squadron of these together. For the Philippines, given their limited fiscal defense spending, the Incheon Class is more of a realistic choice. It will give them some kind of defense protection, at least.

But the RAM is installed at the front, they can't intercept missiles coming directly from the rear. Only the Phalanx can engage a missile from the rear, and if there are more than one incoming missile, it will be game over.

For a ship over 2000ton, the korean should really offer a longer range VLS SAM.

For one, the Incheon Class is a Korean warship, not Japanese.

To answer your question, Japan has a plethora of ships that can serve the Philippines and the Vietnamese.

1) Mursasame Class Light Destroyer (6,000 tonne)

2) Takanami Class Destroyer (6,600 tonne)

3) Akizuki Class GM Destroyer (6,800 tonne)

Yes, that's what VN is doing by doubling the range of KH-35E to 500-600 km in house.

Those Tarantuls may be 'old' but they are ferociously effective. I do remember reading about NATO war games wherein Mistrael Class Frigates were 'taken' out by Tarantuls of the Russian Navy / Soviet Navy. The Tarantuls have the competitive edge in being fast attack craft that can be leveraged on Jiangzhu Class frigates of the PLAN, btw, which make up most of PLAN's South Sea Fleet. Retiring the Tarantuls would be a bad strategic decision.

I did not include the Kongo Class AEGIS GM Destroyer or the Atago Class AEGIS GM Destroyers. Those are too expensive for Vietnam and Philippines.

Absolutely, those RBU-6000's are exactly in the spot for Brahmos. Russia no longer uses RBU-6000, they use Packet-E now.

could you provide more info on this??I thought all Russian warships use RBU-6000.
