Kamorta class corvettes for VPN ?

Those might be perfect for the Philippines, in my honest opinion. They need more OPVs to cover its maritime domain.

And at that price range, I believe the Philippines could realistically purchase 3-4 of these if they really wanted to.

The Philippines should increase their defense budget to at least $4 Billion. It cannot afford to keep its military ill-equipped any longer.

That sounds right, with an extra 2 billion per year, they can go on a shopping spree and also get bigger, more capable vessels and a real air force.

For one, the Incheon Class is a Korean warship, not Japanese.

To answer your question, Japan has a plethora of ships that can serve the Philippines and the Vietnamese.

1) Mursasame Class Light Destroyer (6,000 tonne)

2) Takanami Class Destroyer (6,600 tonne)

3) Akizuki Class GM Destroyer (6,800 tonne)

the ships look nice, but I´m afraid it will never come into reality. like the US, Japan virtually emposes arms embargo on Vietnam. Your law forbids selling arms to a communist country. And VN is one. Not sure, when you are going to modify the law. So even if we want them, you won´t sell.

Any updates if its true that the VPN is really planning to retire the Tarantul Class after the Molniya are completely ready en force ?

Those Tarantuls should be an excellent advance guard to any Flotilla composing of the Sigma and Gepard Class warships.
no, Tarantul ships are not old. afte all, we want to increase the number of warships, not reduce it.
by the way, we tend to use all things until they fall apart.

The Japanese & Their laws are surely a problem if they really want to counter Chinese influence these Outdated weapon embargoes must be removed

That would be great and actually, India might want to do it itself since its planning to operate in SCS and also considering that India is going to set up a satellite tracking station in Vietnam, this might already be in the planning.

All that may very well be part of the plans..... ;)

. . . . .
So do we have any links or more info about this Kamorta/OPV hybrid?

It seems like the strategy is to go for a modern torpedo boat according to the description so far.

One important thing to know would be the speed of that torpedo.

Nothing yet, I'll remind him tomorrow.

Yeah, sounds like torpedo boats will make a comeback, ha ha.

If the strategy is really to approach enemy ships near 100km range and torpedo it, then I think this hybrid should be a smaller class, e.g. 1000 ton, to maximise it's stealth. Then, the classic torpedo boat will truly make a come back lol.

On a serious note, if this hybrid is based on the Sukanya OPV, then I'm worry about its survivability. OPV hulls are usually not built to a high survivability standard like a corvette/frigate hull.
