Here is our baby, the mighty bird with flares.. :smokin:

Sir for my information: if the new engine and increase in thrust is envisaged then will there be a change in the shape of air intakes ?

This could mean a major change in what jf17 looks like.

will wait for sir Pshamim saying on this as a final word however as far as i can figure out, there is not much difference is design and shape of WS-13 and RD-93 so new engine wont require any modification in aircraft design.

Length (m)
WS-13-->4.15
RD-93-->4.25
%Diff-->-2.35%

Diameter (m)
WS-13-->1.02
RD-93-->1.04
%Diff-->-1.92%

Weight (Kg)
WS-13-->1135
RD-93-->1055
%Diff-->7.58

also remember that JF-17 was build as an open structure aircraft so that it can accommodate numerous upgrades and modification in terms of engines, radar, avionics and other equipment. this is a major plus point of JFT design!

regards!

I heard Russian mananged to up thrust the RD-93 engines to 9400kg with Afterburner? Anyway, so far russian is a reliable supplier for engines of JF-17. Switching to WS-13 is not a priority for PAF. In fact, it will cost more to go domestic. The only reason going WS-13 for JF-17 is to gain export order.

India tried to block RD-93 and failed. Now it has once again attempted to block further increase in the thrust of RD-93 engine arguing that if the thrust (AB) is increased from 83 kn to 90 kn, its performance will match with that of IN Mig-29K/KUB . Watching all this China has been working on several option to upgrade the engine without any dependence on Russians.

One of the option is to work with Ukrainians. China has a history of cooperation with Ukraine. It has helped with maintenance of the AL-31 FN engine for China. I heard some reposts that China and Pakistan have decided not to depend on Russia too much. China has therefore negotiated a contract with Ukraine for maintenance, parts, and overhaul in first phase. Work will be carried out in China and Ukraine did not have to enter in any contract with Pakistan.

The other option that I had heard about was Chinese working on the RD-33 clone with some more modification and probably that is the WS-13. I have also heard one FC-1 has already been equipped with this engine and is undergoing tests. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well, Sachin Tendulkar said it himself 'People will throw stones at you... you use them to build milestones'
Pakistan became a Nation with total odds. It became a nuclear Nation with odds and opposes. Every huge step we take, will result in a negative impact.
Never the less, this Nation has history of achieving success in every field they step in. MashAllah.

Same here. They have been testing the fighters with different engine, and as I hear, a J-10B was tested with a WS-15 too.
Are they on special demands by PAF or PAC, no idea. But yeah, they are trying to find the perfect match for several fighters at one time.

All the rumor of Indian trying to block any upgrade or supply of RD-93 is useless. Russian listen more to china than India. if not,the engine deal will not even signed first. The only problem comes when you try to export(whole plane)to other countries. First casualty is mynmar. The fight between FC-1 and mig-29 end up with Russian winning. Look at china j-10 indigenous of it's engine is so slow. Because Russian never threAten to cut off the supply instead very keen to supply more. But when china try to export to Serbia. The problem arises because Russian will definitely in directly sabotage the deal since they try to sell mig-29 to Serbia too. And it can control the engine supply to china. This is the real reason to force china to quickly indigenous the WS--0 for j-10.

makes good sense as long as the chinese engine is durable and reliable and matches the russian engine in overall performance.

The most important issue that Chinese engines need to overcome is engine reliability. Other nations had decades to improve their designs while we only have a few years. I do believe that the dedication of Chinese engineers could make miracles happen.

Pakistan developed 26 JF-17 Thunder aircraft in two years: official

ISLAMABAD (PTI): The Pakistan Air Force has completed the production of 26 JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft in collaboration with China during a period of two years, an official said Tuesday.

The senior PAF official, who was briefing the Public Accounts Committee of parliament, said while replying to a query that the air force had achieved the target set for producing the JF-17 aircraft in the country.

The parliamentary panel was informed that Pakistan began the serial production of the aircraft in collaboration with China two years ago.

The JF-17 was jointly developed by Pakistan and China.

The PAF plans to induct 250 JF-17s in the coming years.

Defence Production Secretary Shahid Iqbal told the parliamentary committee that two P-3C Orion anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft were destroyed in a recent terrorist attack on a naval airbase in Karachi and efforts were being made to replace them.

Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) at Kamra rolled out the 26th JF-17 made by them.

A total of 250 JF-17 fighters would be made, some of them in China others in Pakistan. The main problem of this fighter is its Engine, which is the WS-10. Due to its performance and lack of reliability, WS-13 is currently under testing, our inside sources within ranks of Pakistan Air Force said.

JF-17 Thunder has been first jet made by Pakistan - and any muslim Nation of the world. It not only shows the talent of Pakistani engineers, but also their ability to perform miraculously well within tough financial limitations.

Pakistan aims to produce Stealth versions of the JF-17 aircraft, which is currently under development. It will give Pakistan Air Force air supremacy in the region.

Additional: The RCS of JF-17 is less than that of F-16, which makes it a little tough for Radars to detect within certain ranges. It is till date, the fighter with minimum RCS.
