Secretary Defence Production Lt Gen ® Shahid Iqbal told the committee that two P-3 series Orion anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft had been lost and efforts were being made for their replacement.

According to two channels Secretary Defense Production told no further efforts are being made to procure replacement P-3 Orions due to strained relations with US and has become very difficult therefore Pakistan is no longer perusing for it.

What other option is left.

There has been very good news coming out about the number of JF-17 produced and additional units from China. What I am confused about is the introduction of newer avionics and weapons impact in the TWR. I know for sure hat the work is in progress to upgrade the engine either by installing a new one or increse the thrust level. You just cannot continue to add on unless the thrust issue has been taken care of.

Cannot agree more, here. I am really looking forward to WS-10A and use of composites in order to get TWR at 1, and also look forward to Thunder doing 9Gs!

There were rumor that PAF is building up another JF17 manufacturing facility site in sindh, any update? If we have completed 26 fighters up to now then how can we achieve target of 50 by end of 2011.
I know another 50 blk-2 are directly coming from China.

believe me you cannot put WS-10A in JFT it is totally a different class engine, the engine proposed for JFT is WS-13 not WS-10.

Sir for my information: if the new engine and increase in thrust is envisaged then will there be a change in the shape of air intakes ?

This could mean a major change in what jf17 looks like.
