Cease-fire is just another part of the vicious circle that is the Israeli-Palestinean conflict. Both sides will stand down, rearm, and go at it again, declare a ceasefire, repeat.

It depends. This was almost an exclusively Egyptian led cease fire that was so aggressive that it even made Biden call Sisi (whom Biden had previously called "Trump's favorite dictator") and what would anyone had given to listen in on that conversation. Actually the phone call is on several Twitter accounts.

BTW, Sisi's reply in Arabic is "that's true" lol You will NEVER see Sisi lose his mind. Always the coolest of the coolest no matter what is said to him.

Also Rashida Tlaib was very forceful with Biden and I think this time around he might start understanding he needs to side with both sides and not just be a Zionist like he said earlier in his career.

Her and AOC and Mark Pocan led the house to block the sale of the $735M to Israel which forced the situation and she probably laid into Biden over here while holding Jill Biden's arm at the same time. We know the mouth on Rashida, it's not exactly formal all the time.

The Israelis really might've shot themselves in the foot because the Egyptian conditions laid down between Hamas to completely stop firing rockets and to prevent any other splinter faction to act on its own or that will break the CF. Also the Egyptian intelligence delegation (since they're the only ones that can contact Hamas on such a personal basis) put a ton of pressure on many surrounding, high-ranking representatives and had a massive signed list from all these heads of state to Netanyahoo and co. to halt the indiscriminate bombing. I call it indiscriminate because there were so obvious instances where we saw 277 innocent children, women and elderly and over 1700 injured some critically. Yeah several of that 277 count is Hamas people but just like Israel says it has intel and will investigate, the never announce the result of these investigations so we never know.

Netanyahoo has 11 days left to defend his position from all problems and reelections etc.

All we see are the brutal pictures that are changing world opinion this time more so than ever before. You're hearing many heads of states finally speak up against Israel which we've never seen before.

Sisi and the UN secreteray of state also on the same page, despite the veto that can come from any top 8 members so they didn't just rely on a UN resplution, instead used the support to add value to the cease fire request and pressure Israel like it's never been before. Even BBC said Israel has always gotten away with murder, putting it simply. You've never near BBC counter Israel like that, have you?

Also part of the agreement is not to have any Israeli security forces in or near Al Aqsa as well as a complete halt on demolitions of homes in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. So I would say this is about as good as it gets in a diplomatic sense. Now the massive healing and reconstruction begins. So sad. So a lot more impositions imposed on Israel this time around.

Let's hope it holds. However the pressure for a solution must continue. This cannot be repeated.

Good for the Egyptians. They have good relations with Arab states and long-standing relations with Israel which makes them an ideal bridge between the two. I hope they play a bigger role in the region.

Rashida and company represent the left-wing of the Democrat Party. They are young and may represent the future of the party, which is increasingly become less friendly to Israel than Republicans. In fact, we may see the Republicans becoming the pro-Israel party, but for complicated reasons. Which is a good thing. How can a Democrat support Israel's policy of supporting Israel settlements in disputed lands? And they condone the behavior by subsidizing Israel. They can't.

And let's remember that Democrats are no fan of Bibi. They remember how Bibi treated Obama by speaking against him in Congress (at the invitation of the Republicans). The man is trouble.

And Hamas is no picnic either. As long as they are in control in Gaza, there will be no peace. They are committed to destroying Israel. Fortunately, no one else likes them except for Iran. Not even Egypt is a fan since Hamas is linked with the Muslim Brotherhood.

But nothing indicates the fighting will stop. The Israelis and the Palestinians are like two quarrelsome children that need to be physically separated. I wholeheartedly support a two-state solution with Jerusalem jointly controlled.

But that's a long term solution.

What is needed in Gaza -- and the West Bank -- are peacekeeping troops to act as a buffer.

A ceasefire was always the outcome. The game was to see how much damage Israel could cause before the ceasefire had to be held.

These battles have occured in the same way for decades. Palestine builds up for a few years and Israel knocks it all down again.

What Israel is trying to achieve, it seems, is to make the damage so excessive as to not be worth engaging next time for Palestinians.

The major infrastructure, public buildings etc that have been damaged will take decades to rebuild.

Not decades but everything important takes 1-2 year max.. Hamas has also grown from battle to battle so they haven't technically been knocked down as you claimed if you compare this hamas to the Hamas in the first war in 08' it is completely different Hamas' now. They have grown in all shapes of forms. Which they will continue to do

Illegal ISRAELI state has no option but to stop tiny state has nothing else to throw on innocent Palestinians last thing they got is A BOMB ?
With growing fear in Tel Aviv, and a sense of being left alone naked in front of whole world while receiving barrages of HAMAS rockets, criminal netanyahoo under pressure from whole world just stopped to take a rest!
It's not ceasefire it's just another little rest which ISrael is taking now to gather itself and come back and kill more Palestinians .
Even though it's been said Israel accepted the condition of hamas to give up the Holy mosque but it's only to be seen!
Hamas on the other hand claiming a morale victory aginst illegal state of Israel and has showen it's growing military might that it can answer Israel in its own language!
Palestinians are now leaving mehmood ABBAS and his inefficient croupted , Israeli paid authority and moving towards hamas!
Finger crossed for next battle to begain !

I don't know exactly how long it will take - this article says it will take several years to fix sewage systems, hospitals etc.

But the point remains, the Israeli intention was to make the entire episode not worth repeating for Palestinians. Whether they have achieved that, I don't know, but you'd have to say a ceasefire at this stage is prob a win for Israel.

I wouldn't say A victory because Hamas begin this to set a clear red-line and deterence.. Holding them accountable

Hamas is a clear winner pinning down Israel on its own game considering hamas as malitia rather a country with trained army and airforce like Israel, hamas has showen Israel no matter what power infantry, airforce, guided or unguided weaponry Israel got, even anti missile system still, hamas can hit Israel anywhere and at anytime they want and if palestanians had to sleep in shelters same Israelis do have sleep in the shelters?
Morale victory to hamas , until next battle begins which I think will start sooner then later! As netanyaho is falling down politically he will try to use this conflict as a weapon to stay in power

No it's not a win for Israel, instead whole world knows now Israel is a flop production of USA and UK which even can't fight a rag tag miliata in its backyard?
Imagine hizabullha starts from other side Israel won't stand a chance?
and when Qatar, Saudis, emaraties, Turkish and Iranian are paying for the damages then it not take months to rebuild the Gaza to another city from EU?
instead it will be a better city from a lot other so-called countries!

Bro Hamas caused almost no serious damage. Those rockets were exactly the excuse Israel needed to bombard Gaza.

The whole thing has played into Israeli hands. Now everyone will go back as if nothing happened.

I hope you are right

I guess Thank You Shah of Quraysh, Mehmood of Pakistan.
Thanks to egypt and Qatar who played vital role while, all others pakistan, turkey , Malaysia, Indonesia , brought the required support then most of Arabs
This is not the end it's just another begaining, Israel crumbled under pressure from China, Russia, and lastly even from BIDEN admin

Who told u, hamas cause no serious damage?
Go ask ISRAELI ambasdor why thy wanted to kill OPREATION leader of hamas before ceasefire?
Or else go ask the ppls of Tel Aviv who can't sleep in their homes cause sirens couldn't stoped from the rockets flying in The skies?
We can say not many hit the grounds like Israeli airforce did to Gaza but believe me no one slept in their homes in Tel Aviv too?
And hamas did made a lot of damage, no civillian air planes could fly into Israel just because of hamas rockets in the air?
And ISRAELI govt has to stop all passenger flights comming in and out?
All are the mark of hamas victory against a full state army and airforce!
While when hamas doesnt had the rockets then ISRAELIs not attacking Gaza and west bank?
Sorry no one buyes that stupid argument that if hamas haven't fired any rockets Israel would be dancing in Tel Aviv, this conflict has a longest history when there were no hamas no. Rifle with Palestinians they been butchered in sabra and shatila camps unarmed?
Hamas did good what it can to defend it's citizens what ever they got they fighted back and now Israel knows there is something which can hit Israel and there won't be a Ezy walk like before!
Mind u, hizabullha just sent some of its rockets to signal Israel to stop, and that's the pressure which let biden calls netanyaho to stop immediately as this can explode under the pants of uncle Sam, which USA isn't ready to be part off
