Iraq to buy 12 JF-17 Thunder jets from Pakistan

This is very good deal. I doubt you will get deal in same price for brand new mulirole fighter from anywhere. It's right time for iraq to sign on final process of agreement and materialize the deal.

I read they are buying the Rafael. Any new confirmation for the JF-17 deal ?

.
According to a interview of defensenews.com with a Iraqi source (former adviser to Iraqi Interior minister and MoD) the Pakistani govt is offering the sale of 20 UAVs, while the Iraqi govt is in final stages of acquiring Super Mushak trainers.

That makes more sense. It’ll be a cheap anti-drone aircraft.

Hearing from 2 years iraq is close to finalize the deal for rafale. This is just Iraq intends to buy , Iraq intends to buy...... But cost is the main factor. For 600million $ Jf17 block 3 fits in their budget including training. Iraq has been having significant problems maintaining its F-16s ,So forget about rafale under current financial situation, while there is no cost for day dreaming.

. . . .
JF17 Block III make the most sense as the Iraqi Airforce learns how to rebuild herself fully - as Pakistani instructors will be onsite ( and their presence will not be toxic compared to American or other western instructors. Pakistani instructor will also be there for the long haul to help them rebuild - it is not simply a weapons sale but a relationship ).

Iraqi Airforce has good experience and warm history with the Pakistani Airforce and they are looking to rebuild using that relationship.

The F16s are unsupportable in the Iraqi airforce as most of the contractors who supported and maintained them have left, and while the Iraqi Airforce can put on a show of force using the F16s by marshalling their resources, that is some distance from being conbat or war ready on an operational basis.

. .
the key word here is "offer".

Iraq want to buy 20 armed drones that can stay 30 hours in the air, and it's getting offers from france, pakistan and turkey for it.
Yeah... Pakistan has little to no chance

Unless it is more affordable maybe

But hopefully we can sell them the Super Mushak.

your misinformed, Iraq is not going to buy any Jf-17 Blk III because Iraq is looking to buy 14 French Rafales with French Stamp T air defense system and Caesar 155mm wheeled artillery

the only plane Iraq want to buy from Pakistan is the super mushak trainer because Iraq want to phaseout the Serbian Lasta-95 from its airforce.

as for the iraqi F-16s, nothing is wrong with them, they're in a flying state and iraqi's been participating in air exercises with French Rafales over Iraq.

Regarding the highlighted parts.
Iraq and some other countries will buy stuff because they are told to buy that stuff,
not because its the right stuff.

Everyone has taken their share from the mountain of gold in the last few decades.

If you know what i mean.

. . .
If true.....congratulations Iraq and Pakistan. There is no reason why Iraqi AF has to buy inferior AC at inflated prices from USA. This should be a walkup call to the geniuses in Washington.
