3- 1800hp Engine and Steerable propeller
This combo is a system developed for the Iranian military speed boats. Compared to earlier versions in Iranian use, this increases the speed of the boats by 30%, whilst reducing their fuel consumption by 25%. The system also leads to much better maneuverability of the boats.

I always wonderd how noisy these type of propulsion are and if they can be used in submarines

Iranian Naval subsystems

1-ASR 3D naval radar

"ASR" is a solid-state Passive electronically scanned 3-D air and sea surface surveillance radar mounted on Iran's domestically-developed Frigates. Possibly an "L" band radar capable of detecting boats, low flying aircraft (4 SQ meter RCS), and missiles between 5 and 110 NM. The 3D radar provides elevation information with range and azimuth. It can track up to 100 targets simultaneously and includes weather monitoring. It uses a passive phased array, i.e., the transmitter is not located directly in the antenna.
This radar became operational in 2013

2- Iranian "EAGLE EYE" radar
Eagle-Eye is a non-rotating 4 Panel AESA 3D "search and fire control" Radar which is designed to detect and intercept more than 100 surface and air targets and transmit their information to missile and artillery systems installed on ships. This Radar is now being installed on the latest Mowj class Frigates buing built.

A lot of the larger military subs use pump-jet systems, which are external.
I do remember a popular mechanics magazine article from the 90s which had a design for a concrete hulled submarine which used waterjets for both propulsion and thrust vectoring.

I`ve always like the idea of a concrete submarine hull as concrete is very strong in compression

very interesting..did not know if it is possible..

TONDAR is Iran's first locally designed and built hovercraft and was launched in 2012 in the Bandar Abbas.
  • The hovercraft design is based on the British SR.N6 hovercraft.
  • built in two models civilian and military. The Naval version is named Tondar
  • Weight: 11 tonn
  • Length: 17 meters..width: 8 m..Height: 6m
  • Speed: 90 km/h
  • endurace: 279 km
  • Troop capacity:60 marines
  • Patrols high and impassable areas such as swamps, sand dunes, reeds, shallow floodplains, and passing shallow minefields without the need for coastal equipment

Two of my favourite naval weapons there.

I hope the Besat class submarines can fire the Hoot and Kamand is installed on the Loghman class ships.

@aryobarzan

Should we add the AShCM and AShBM in this thread or they need a separate thread of their own ?

I would say yes..they are weapons used by naval forces so we can can cover them here..especially the jusk underwster launch capability...

Ps: looked for Sonar subsystem..other than an old photo no more info..such a vital sensor and we have no info...have you come across any info..tbere is also a side scan sonar ..

I will start the AShCM and AShBM here ... later I will join the AShCM altogether in a separate thread of Cruise Missile of Iran where AShCM, LACM, ALCM, SLCM will be posted.

I will look for sonar.
