The electronic in these engines are imported. And the part of Iran in designing those engines are providing specs. My understanding is that we have 3 class of engines in Iran used for civilian cars.
EF-7 basically designed to work with CNG, assissted by Germans. It is mostly used in Samand family.
XU family and its derivatives used in Peugeots of IKCO mainly designed by the French.
X100 engine and derivatives/upgrades used in Pride, Tiba, Shahin, Quik, Saina, etc. This engine has European-Korean DNA.
Other engines are all derivatives of these foreign engine one way or an other.
The goodness of all this is that Iranian car industry is completely capable of producing components of these engines locally. The badness is that none of them is basically designed and manufactured/masterminded by Iranians. That's because We have a piece of shit in car industry called میرسلیم and his کارگزاران collegues. This guy still believes in Qajar era policies of depending on others.
As long as we have the same management in Iran car industry we won't see any Iranian firm allowed to he any say in that industry it's all import and import and import and that of old outdated technology.
