I believe the "Sell Iran planes" is one of China's most serious, last cards in its competition with US. China hasnt been pushed to the corner enough yet IMO to justify playing that card. China can do it, IF she wants and needs to, but she doesnt.....at least not for now.

Nope anytime china calls on US debt. US will be bankrupt. Just look at argentina and what happened to it. US is in the same mess

Don't ever doubt that Iran have any less details on Pakistan's defense setup than the CoAS himself.
They surely have all technical details of jF-17.
If today some audit is run on Iranian F-5, it's flight control software will be 100% jF-17.

Selling Jf17 to Iran is no big deal. If we can sell nuclear designs to make bomb what could be more big or dangerous selling to Iran. Iran never posed a big threat to Pakistan they just work for thier benefit either political, economic, international or geographical. Sell them the thunder it's not any thing they can't find or can't buy better than it. Just don't match your fancy or sensitive avionics with them, that's why an export model is built and offered.

i agree with all of your post apart from this, how are iranians less 'westernised culturally' than pakistanis??

Its a good thing in my opnion, im of the view that iranians are true to their persian side even today and resisted foreign cultural mixup with the west, we pakistaniz drink tea everyday british milk tea, we serve biscuits and cakes to house guests, we use English words instead of persian or turkish words or urdu words in our sentences, we look at the world with british lense. Our military and its functioning is exact copy of Uk's militaty. Our beurocracy and our laws have basic foundations in british law. Our doctors and lawyers go to britian, australia, canada and feel at home because of similarties. Our women use husbands name and loose their fathers name after marriage like the westerners, our schools and books and model of education is british also the medium is british english not only schools buy colleges and universities use same systems and terminologies and titles ranks etc

Our people have low medium high and elite class just like british.

There are hundreds more similarities and i don't endorse them i would like pakistan to grow back into its persian and turkish and indian culture but the truth is todays pakistan is a mix of british and saudi cultures. All the things i mentioned above i dont like them one bit the similarities as to me a nation should stay true to its core and identity but we (pakistaniz have always accepted foreign cultures and things very easily be it afghan, persian, tibetan, arab, indian or british culture we always adopt to the power ruling our elite)

Thank God Almighty for a free Country Pakistan now we are in the process of getting back to our true roots slowly and steadily we are fairy a new amd artifical nation. We are a mix population of 10 or more ethnicities and 10 or more civilizations

You can always create shell 'export' companies on paper to take the sanctions and let PAC loose.

Lets be Realistic here..

The Iranians have to replace their entire fleet. Over the years they have somehow made the F-5's locally by reverse engineering them but the engine technology was sold by the USA at the time of Shah. They can not improve further as the best they could do was the AZARAKASH fighter bomber which had a Twin Tail configuration.

However they have stopped its production due to lack of advanced radar technology.

A few days back there was an article that IRAN is interested in procuring the J-10 which would offer them a range which not even the F-14's can offer. The Russians are not interested in supplying them the SU-30's at the present time.

The European countries that are most likely to sell them are France and Italy. But they know it would be very difficult to fulfill any commitments because of USA.

Now the only solution is to procure something from China so both JF-17 and J-10's are being considered.

110-150 J-10 + 250-300 JF-17 would be an ideal high low mix with the locally produced aircraft to effectively deny any attack.

If I may remember correctly @Oscar you did play a scenario where GCC invades Iran and the outcome was not very good in regards with GCC. Could you do something like that with Iran having J-10's and JF-17's along with the migs and Su's.

Then you have little option but to wait for your country to completely wean off from F-16s and C-130 support that US provides. Once you replace them with J-10Cs and Y-20s, you could probably trade with Iran.
