INS Vikramditya, India's second aircraft carrier, out at sea again

An EMP weapon has been envisaged for years by many nations and to date has not materialized. If the US hasn't even devloped such a system then I don't think anyone has to fear a Pak EMP weapon. As soon as such a credible EMP threat emerges, if it ever does, India will almost certainly take adequate measures to minimize the threat such systems post to them militarily. As it is many critical systems will be EMP-hardened/resistant.

CHAMP was tested in 2012 but ya its a long way off for most other nations, China might pop one out in the early 2020s.

you must understand that the situation is completely different than the 70's.the blockade will not only affect pakistan !

True it is different, a physical blockade would be extremely difficult not to mention Gwadar is meant more for China's use.

Please this time dnt make any excuse ... If they do India should cancel this deal

Is that a Threat ? :omghaha:, show me once you Indians have gut to do such thing as cancel the deal...most likely you guys go to back down and swallow any repair cost again. And watch this...the excuse will be once again "made in China" components such as what Russians are famous at. :D

Russia's 'made-in-China' Proton-M explodes during launch - English pravda.ru

"Russia is currently unable to create equipment that can work in space for a long time. We buy it from China, where they can not make such equipment either, so we get what we can witness today. We can not make satellites without spare parts from the West or from China. That's what the danger is about. Of course, there will be such accidents.

I dont think you know the basic's about emp technology !cu cannot stop an electromagnetic pulse ! U.S has the technology since the 60's !

Not a threat, enforcement of contract obligations.

Russia should have been more involved in the production and integration process, it'll be hard for them to prove that faulty Chinese equipment downed their rocket.

@illusion8 @Dillinger what will be the result of a high altitude nuclear warhead detonation ? :azn:

Hurricane medium-range air defence missile system will be onboard

Really, that would give her an OLDER missile than the Talwars .... which has the 9M317 (SA-N-12), part of upgraded 3S90M "Shtil-1" naval missile system

The 3S90 "Uragan" (Russian: Ураган; English: hurricane) is the naval variant of the 9K37 "Buk" and has the NATO reporting name "Gadfly" and US DoD designation SA-N-7, it also carries the designation M-22. The export version of this system is known as "Shtil"

And if so, since it is a SARH missile, where are the Orekh illuminators? And SRL or VLU?

Again, one you don't need to stop it, many critical facilities and systems are hardened against EMP strikes.

Two an EMP generator the size of the HAGII-C will not be useful as a weapon, unless you want to toss it out of a B-2.

NNEMP generators are advanced and not easy to build, the US itself tested its first true guided and powered EMP weapon in 2012. Unless you want to utilize NEMP instead of NNEMP your options are severely limited

I'm talking about NNEMPs and of course there is no way to stop a EMP wave but it is more than possible to negate any negative effects it may cause. Something as simple as a Faraday cage can be built by an idiot in a basement.

INS Vikramaditya completes engine repairs and readies for sea trials - Naval Technology

Capable of cruising at a speed of 32k, the aircraft carrier has a range of more than 4,000nm and is armed with Hurricane medium-range air defence missile system, eight SS-NX-26 Yakhont anti-ship cruise missiles, a new 130mm gun mount system and a Medvedka-2 ASW system.

Equipped with 3D air search radars and Puma fire control radars, the 130m-long INS Vikramaditya is fitted with sonar suites, including hull-mounted LF sonar and LF VDS sonar, as well as Garpun-BAL SSM targeting and SAM control systems.

This portion (from the Naval Technology article) obviously refers to the 130m admiral Gorshkov frigate being fitted out, as the Vikki is more like 273m overall. Some dufus has mixed up the old and the new Gorshkov...

A NEMP- best of luck disabling even a parked Boeing E-4 with that- yup they are specifically hardened against EMP, as are many other systems.

Guess what's happening here.
