INS Vikramditya, India's second aircraft carrier, out at sea again

You know eventually someone will plonk a high hyper-sonic ALCM with appreciable range (China definitely will), the Barak won't always cover us. We should have moved with the proposal to turn the AAD into the Ashwin SAM/ABM system. :hitwall:

There will always be "ifs and buts" but I'm commenting on the current and short-term future mate. I don't see any reason why the IN won't be developing its own requirements for LR-SAMS and the like. Why are you of the thinking the IN will simply sit on its laurels once it has the BARAK-2? You and I both know this will not be the case. The cat and mouse game of threat and counter-measure will go on in the IOR. But when you have India and China will seemingly unlimited resources (in the future) then it is going to fun times for us defence enthusiasts!

@Dillinger nescom is working on a very ambitious project right now ! guess what it is ?

how do u think IN will hit Gwadar and what'll be the reason ?
@RAMPAGE
We won't actually, not unless we decide to plug in a blockade 71 style! You just seemed a little focused on Gwadar and DF-21s. On the other hand the AKG will be able to deter the CBG from entering the littoral waters of Pakistan, that's for sure, unless we want to run our CAPs over your land which even given the less than intimidating ADGE is highly inadvisable.

She will commissioned with 8 Kashtan CIWS..... after some time in IN service BARAK I SAMs will be added.

The first line of defense are always the air wing, the escort ship and at last the carriers own defensive armament.

Beg pardon! Please provide a source for that. Thus far, she is unarmed and carries no weapons related sensors. Noting that the latest Talwar batch 2 no longer have Kashtan, it is by no means certain Vicky will get those. Also, the combination of those with Barak I seem ... well ... odd. You'ld sooner see some AK630 with Barak 1, as this is a common feature on newer IN ships.

We were under the impression that the Russians were forcing their CIWS down our collective throats. More money and what not to be had?:blink:

I was imagining a Pak vs Ind or a PLAN vs IN in an Indian Ocean scenario going by the fact that the Chinese just have one aircraft carrier right now.

I've covered the PAK vs Ind hypothetical conflict. Wrt PLAN vs IN, I think this is, right now, far too far-fetched to properly analyse as the IN's blue-water capabilities are almost non-existent- by their own admission the PLAN is more configured as a brown-water navy with many small and low-performing assets so as to dominate their immediate region (SCS). The PLAN is decades away from floating a credible CBG and even further away from entering into India's "backyard" (IOR).

something to do with electromagnetic pulse missile ! don't kmow the details.

An EMP weapon has been envisaged for years by many nations and to date has not materialized. If the US hasn't even devloped such a system then I don't think anyone has to fear a Pak EMP weapon. As soon as such a credible EMP threat emerges, if it ever does, India will almost certainly take adequate measures to minimize the threat such systems post to them militarily. As it is many critical systems will be EMP-hardened/resistant.
