Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is offering to build additional 40 Sukhoi-30 MKI fighters for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at one third the cost of French Rafale aircraft.

According to a Business Standard analysis, the IAF is paying INR 11.25 billion per Rafale, excluding the price of weapons and logistics, whereas, HAL is offering to price the additional Su-30s at just INR 4.25 billion.

HAL Chairman T Suvarna Raju said: “We will offer a very competitive price. Since 2010, we have been delivering the Su-30 at INR 4.25 billion. We can deliver another three squadrons at that same price.” So, the IAF will pay INR 170 billion for 40 additional Su-30s

HAL is not corrupt, but Lazy to core
okay if you say so

No according to indians super MKI upgrade will have AESA on MKI @BHarwana :disagree:
MKI upgrade is going to cost 20 million dollars a piece..
having said that, the whole rafale program doesnt makes sense

india should have either gone for full production(would have cost 20-22 billion dollars) with some Tot and supplemented that number with su 30mki and LCA, ofset clause meant that money would go back in subcontractors or atleast LCA
this would have solved the navy problem as well

instead india just ordered 36 and now is running in circles with the single engine tender which didnt make sense so now its an open tender which also dosnt make sense.....

Indians are in a fix now. They want everything from gripen to f 35 to f 18 to f 16 to Malaysian migs to su 57

But i think Modi will succumb to trumps pressure and India will go for f18 or f 35 after modi wins elections that is.

But thats just my speculation

Expired ejection seat cartridges (source: BAE Systems employee on the Hawk and Jaguar program)....not corrupt but definitely lazy.

Yes India is in a desperate situation but here are some facts

Rafales are too expensive
F-35 is not on offer
IAF does not like MIG-29/35 and SU-30
Modi withdrew from SU-57
There would be any ToT for F-16 or F-18

This leaves only Gripen in the field.

Pakistan should be sensible where to use money .

Go for Indigenous Stealth Drone Development ,
In future they will more costly & hard to get TOT than Fighter Jets.

So?
IAF dont like tejas either but they are still getting it. If you want f16 f 18 or f 35 su 57 with tot than your pushing your luck. Either think about tot or think about filling the numbers of aircraft.

India really should have bought the Mirage 2000 assembly line. But since so much time and money wasted should support local industry and spend on increased production facilities for Tejas, in hopes to lay down the foundations for a better project next time.
