Indian Navy Aircraft Carriers and Ships

People need to differentiate between STOBAR and CATOBAR fighters. STOBAR fighters- MIG-29K,N-LCA,SU-33 etc CAN NOT be operated off CATOBAR carriers without massive modifications and CATOBAR fighters-Rafale-M,F-35C,F/A-18E/F CAN NOT operted off STOBAR carriers. As such we have to differentiate between the carriers the IN will get (INS Vikramditya and IAC-1) AND THE CATOBAR (IAC-2-) as such there will most likely be no crossover in fixed wing air groups right down to AWACS which are likely to be E-2Ds.

+EMALS is a serious likelihood for IAC-2-

You can operate the STOBAR fighters on the catapult system changing its landing gear. :coffee:

Could be the tower for air search radar. You can see something similar on USN carriers like the Nimitz.

Okay, so i love Dosa, but why do they need it so much on the naval ships? Are most sailors from south?

Because, while Dosa is a delicious delicacy (at least for me), it's not very energy heavy.......i mean......not very high in calories....and sailors usually need good amount of calories to do work....getting what i mean?

Dosa is regular food for southern India, while its special dish for Nothern India. I remember my childhood, we use to get excited when parent use to take us for Dosa treat. (I spent my 19 years in Notheren India_)

Now every morning I eat Dosa in breakfast.. (Stayin in bangalore since many years.)

Not correct, because the airframe has to be further strengthened for catapult launch because of the high forces that applies to it during this phase. The EF consortium for example offers the Sea Typhoon only in STOBAR config, because the changes for CATOBAR are way higher, especially when the initial design was not aimed for such a use.

This is not true- Sancho has pretty much said everything I'd say, there is significant changes that need to be made to an airframe to allow it to be launched using catapults which is not only expensive but adds significant weight. If a fighter is not originally designed to be catapult launched them there could be serious issues in converting it to do so and in many cases it is just not feasible wrt to cost and weight ie Seat Typhoon is offered only in STOBAR configuration as EADS have said making it CAROBAR configured would cost too much and add far too much weight.

Why no comments from our Chinese and Pakistani friends?

OK, here we go.

First congratulation to all Indians.

The photo was taken by US satellite during sea trivial.

So our training toy is bigger than your real one.
Can't wait to see what our real one may look like.:smitten:

China can produce EVERYTHING in an AC, so no need to beg for the Russians.
With the world's second largest economy and world's biggest ship building industry, it's just a piece of cake to build more advanced toys.

obviously...china has mastered ctrl c + ctrl v...even the ac china is building is the same...ctrl c + ctrl v...check out wikipedia

Since we have enough money and Indian friends tell us that we are good at copy and paste,
so why not ctrl c + ctrl v + ctrl v + ctrl v + ctrl v.
Still not enough ACs to control Indian Ocean?
Fine, ctrl v + ctrl v + ctrl v + ctrl v.....

Next step, USS Gerald R. Ford, Ctrl + C
and ...
ctrl v, ctrl v, ctrl v, ctrl v...

yes absolutely...go ahead...in real war it doesnt really matter whether its ctrl c + ctrl v...as long as it works upto its expectations...

really???make one of them first before chest thumping.see, your ac is still an Russian ac which you bough to make it a casino..and here we are, making perfect casino for naval personnel in Pacific.. and AC operation is a complex job..a country needs years to make it perfect.and you guys don't even have an aircraft to fly from this ship..  it'll still take years to make an aircraft and perfect them..though Chinese products are born perfect..i wonder why??? :undecided: :undecided:
